Julian Lennon's POV--1967
I was on a trip with Daddy, Mummy, and my uncles. They were calling it a Magical Mystery Tour, but I didn't really know what that meant. I was just happy to be spending time with my family. Right now, the big tour bus had pulled over next to an open field in order for us to stretch our legs. I looked up at daddy who was wearing a funny hat and he said:
"Julian, it's time to get off so that we can play."
"Okay, Daddy," I replied.
I hopped off of his lap and ran down the aisle, although I was abruptly stopped by someone in front of me.
"Hey Jules!" Uncle Paul exclaimed while he picked me up above his head like an airplane. (I always loved it when he did that.) "Whatcha doin?"
"Daddy said we were going to play!" I said while I played with a loose thread on his very funny looking sweater vest.
"You're right, we are going to play!" he said happily, but then took on a sadder look after he noticed me playing with his sweater. "What's wrong Jules? Do you not like my sweater?" he asked as he began to cry.
"Oh, no, Uncle Paul! I love it!" I said, but he continued to cry. "Please don't cry! I really do like it!"
"Really?" he said as he wiped away a remaining tear.
"Really."
"Thanks, Julian. It really means a lot because your daddy keeps telling me that it's ugly!"
"He does?"
"He sure does," Daddy said from behind us. "Now, Paul would you please get out of the way? You're holding up the line!"
"Yes, mum!" Uncle Paul replied while he winked at me. I giggled which caused him to smile and laugh as well.
He carried me as he walked off of the tour bus, as they called it. He let me down and I immediately started to run around, for I'd been sitting down all day. Somehow, there were dogs running around so I went over to one of the big ones and it began to lick my face. I giggled in response. I saw Uncle Paul beside me who was also playing with a dog.
"That's a big one, isn't Julian?" he said.
I nodded while I continued to pet the black and brown, fuzzy dog.
"Hey, Jules and Paul, we're about to eat, so if you would come over here I'll feed ya!" Mummy exclaimed.
"I'll race ya!" Uncle Paul said.
"Okay!"
I took off running as fast as I could. Uncle Paul was trailing behind me and I thought for sure that I was going to win, but just as I was about to reach Mummy, he came up behind me and picked me up.
"I guess that counts as a tie. Don't ya think, Jules?" he asked.
"No, I think I won!" I defended.
"He's definitely your son, John!" Uncle Paul said as he patted Daddy's shoulder.
"You just now realized that?"
"Sadly, yes."
Daddy pushed Uncle Paul and I laughed. They always acted so silly! Mummy sat me down on a picnic blanket next to Uncle George and gave me a peanut butter sandwich. He asked me how I was liking the trip so far and I told him that I was really enjoying it. Soon, we had finished eating and Uncle Paul insisted that we play a game.
"What game would you like to play, Julian?" Uncle Ringo asked me.
"How about we jump the rope?" I suggested.
"That's a great idea!" Uncle Paul exclaimed. "I'll go get a rope!"
He then disappeared into the big bus in pursuit of our jump rope. A few minutes later, he came back carrying a long white rope. I didn't know where he had found it, but I was glad he did.
"Alright, I think this rope will suit our needs, right?" he asked us.
"Looks good to me," Uncle Ringo said as he inspected the rope.
"Oh, I didn't really care if you thought so," Uncle Paul quipped.
"Haha, whatever, Paul," he laughed.
"Anywho, Julian, why don't you get beside the rope, that way you can jump," Uncle George told me.
"Okay."
"Guys, are we gonna swing this thing for Jules or not?" he told them.
"Of course! Sorry, Julian. Your Uncles have gotten me distracted," Daddy told me.
"That's alright," I replied.
They then began to swing the rope for me. I jumped it about twenty times before the rope hit my leg. They all laughed and then Daddy said it was Uncle Paul's turn. Uncle Paul denied it, but Daddy wouldn't let him say 'no,' so he finally agreed. We swung the rope slowly at first, but then Daddy told me to speed up. And so I did, so fast, though, that Uncle Paul ended up getting tangled in the long rope, which, in turn, caused him to land straight on his back. Everyone busted out laughing, but I felt bad because I knew it was partially my fault. I ran over to him with tears in my eyes.
"Are you okay, Uncle Paul? I'm so sorry!" I cried.
He got up and told me not to cry.
"I'm alright, Jules. Don't worry. And John, maybe he isn't your son after all, since he actually has a heart."
Daddy laughed and said, "Maybe not."
We played jump rope until everyone had had a turn. Uncle George managed to jump nineteen times, which was awfully close to my twenty, Daddy jumped it nine times, and Uncle Ringo jumped it twice (He said he wasn't very athletic). Soon, everyone had decided to relax a little, which didn't sound very fun to me at all. I think Uncle Paul noticed, though, and asked if I wanted to walk through the grassy fields. I agreed, of course, and we were off. I held his hand and we walked through the tall grass, which was mixed with pretty flowers. We reached an area where the grass was a little shorter and Uncle Paul suggested that we sit down. I, once again, agreed and we began to talk for awhile. At one point, a pretty black bird landed on the ground close to us.
"Do ya see that, Jules?" he asked me.
"Yeah, it's pretty."
"Would you like me to sing you a song?"
"Sure."
"Okay, then. Here it goes."
He cleared his throat and began to sing:
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise. Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these sunken eyes and learn to see. All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to be free. Blackbird, fly! Blackbird, fly! Into the light of the dark black night!"
He stopped singing and I clapped.
"Do you like it?"
"Oh, yes!"
"Thanks, Jules. Now I'm a little tired, why don't we lay down here and enjoy the sunshine?"
"Okay."
We both laid down into the soft grass among the flowers. I yawned and rested my head on his chest. He put his arm around me and soon I was fast asleep.______________
I was woken up by someone calling my name. I opened my eyes to see Daddy leaning over me.
"How was your kip, Jules?" he asked.
"Good," I yawned.
I looked down at Uncle Paul to find that he was still asleep. I then glanced at Daddy and he smiled cheekily.
"What do ya say we wake up Uncle Paul now?" he giggled.
"Okay," although I didn't really understand what was so funny.
"Watch this," he smiled.
He then picked one of the colorful flowers and hovered over Uncle Paul's nose. I stifled laughter and he told me to stay quiet. I nodded and Daddy smirked in response. Finding that hovering over his nose wasn't going to wake him, Daddy decided to take it a step further. Instead of just hovering, he actually rubbed it against Uncle Paul's nose. He stirred a little, which caused both of us to bust out laughing. Finally, after what seemed like a century, Uncle Paul woke up.
"Wha? What's going on?" he asked sleepily.
"Oh, nothing," Daddy said as he hid the flower behind his back.
"Oh, really? Is he lying, Jules?"
"Well..." I trailed off.
"That confirms it. Come here you git!" he yelled as he tackled Daddy.
Daddy let out a high pitched scream while scrambling to get off of the ground. Eventually, he did and took off towards the bus, leaving me with Uncle Paul.
"Let's go, Julian, before your Daddy convinces the driver to leave without us."
"Okay," I replied as I took his hand.
We made our way back to the bus while Uncle Paul hummed another tune. Soon, I was back in my seat, leaning comfortably against Daddy. I closed my eyes and thought about the wonderful day that I had just had. "I'll never forget such a nice day," I thought. And with that, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
