"Ford dealer just up here sells Yankee fords, I like them their good to drive," John said as we drove into the forecourt, of this big car yard. One caught my eye as we entered it was gold in colour and was a station wagon, there was no price on it, but it had a number plate.

"This one for sale?" I asked this chap who had came out of the building, as I was looking over the car.

"I could find out for you sir, it's one of our demonstrators, and its nine months old." He said and disappeared inside, as I sat in the car. Then John called me over, to look at the car he was eyeing up, that had a price tag of three thousand and had a v-eight five-litre engine.

"How about this Joe, you'd pull the birds in this one," I shook my head I didn't need a car for that, I wasn't interested in pulling birds. I was just thinking of just one lady at the moment, and I don't think to pull her would be the right phrase.

"Excuse me the manager said the falcon could be for sale if you are interested. Would you like to take it for a drive, but I'd need to see a driving licence." When we got back, he invited me into the office when I said how much. The new model was one thousand nine hundred and fifty, I got this car for fourteen hundred. One thousand by check, and four hundred cash, it was already registered for another three months and there was third-party insured on the registration plates. I could drive it away, after the change of ownership was complete.

We left the car there, to be given a final check over and service, while we went to an estate agent, just down the road. As I looked at the house listing board, John asked about the apartments on Hay street and found that they had a listing, for two apartments to let and one for sale. The agent had the keys for all three and was able to show them to us now as they were all vacant. She took us in her car, and the first thing we saw was the underground parking. There was a parking bay, for each apartment, and there were twenty in total.

There was a gated car park, at ground level at the rear, for visitor parking, which could only be accessed by keypad. All the apartments had the same layout, one master bedroom and a smaller one, with inbuilt fitted wardrobes a bathroom and galley kitchen, with a large living area. All were furnished differently, and they wanted one fifty a month, for the two rented fully furnished ones. The one for sale was on the top floor and on the market for twelve thousand five hundred dollars. It came with all fittings and fixtures, except for the beds.

That was because they had taken them when they had moved to a bigger house, although there was a sofa bed in the living space. I made them an offer of ten thousand dollars, subject to me having it now. I could pay cash, from the fifteen thousand I had in the bank if it secured the sale. The agent said it had been on the market, for just over nine months, and thought that they may be open to offers, but could not guarantee my bid would be accepted. Back at her office, she phoned the vendor and made the offer, then looked at me and shook her head.

"They're come down to twelve if you can guarantee finance." She said looking at me, with a don't think your win this one look.

"Eleven cash bankers drift, Monday noon at this office if I can have the keys now," I said to the agent and John and she looked at me shocked, the vendor also heard me make the offer.

"Why noon and why at this office?" the agent asked, relaying the question from the vendor.

"Because I have to go to the bank for the drift, and we will sign the contract face to face, so when I give the drift to him the property is mine, and just has to be registered to make it legal. Take the deal or leave it, I could take one of the rented ones, and wait until your price drops, to my original offer." I said and the agent looked impressed, as she waited for an answer from him.
