Let It Go

You know that feeling you get when you wake up after a terrible experience.

For a few moments, everything is right in the world, and then that sinking feeling kicks in, like a gut punch.

As I opened my eyes, the events that had taken place the night before came rushing back into my mind.

To say I was in shock would be an understatement.

I didn't trust people easily.
In fact, I didn't trust much at all.
The two people I did trust were my two best friends.

Brittany, Victoria, and Linley. Always together, the three amigos.
After we lost Victoria we clung to each other, each afraid to lose the other.

How could she do this to me?
How could she keep it from me?

I sighed and sat up in the large guest bedroom.

I picked my phone up off the charger and scrolled through the notifications on my home screen.

Brittany had sent me god knows how many messages.
Even a few from Chris.
I scrolled a little ignoring the messages until another name caught my eye.

Landon: "When you wake up, I'm taking for out for breakfast."

"Wake up buttercup!!"

"If you don't get in here soon, I'm going to come to get you."
Followed by random numbers and letters, sent in hopes to awaken me.

I laughed to myself as I threw my legs over the bed.
Well, I better get ready to deal with the day.

After I had showered and dressed I made my way down the grand staircase.
Only Ben and Landon were in the living room.

"Where did everyone go?"
I wondered aloud and I made my way to the refrigerator, thinking of nothing but ice-cold water.

Ben spoke up
"They went out for lunch and to the beach.
Sandra basically forced them out the door at the crack ass of dawn this morning."

I laughed out loud without thought, and water spewed out of my nose.
I then had a coughing fit.

Ben and Landon both had a field day with this and doubled over cackling on the couch.

I rolled my eyes and caught my breath.
"Ass.."
I coughed a little extra.
"Holes!"

Ben walked by patting me on the head. He grabbed the keys to one of our rental cars and strolled toward the door.

"I'm going to meet up with some friends, so if you leave just lock the door."

He walked out of the front door and then right back inside.

"Oh and no funny business."
He said with an "I just bit into a lemon" face.

After Landon and I were alone I stretched and yawned dramatically.
I was then suddenly aware of my head pounding.

"Dammit" I growled putting both hands on my head in hopes the pressure would somehow curb my discomfort.

"Here,"
Landon said handing me some Advil.
