4 - It's all over

Watching Tanjirou fight was an eye-opener. The boy filled with fury heading straight towards the demon, no hesitation. His screams of rage filled the air as he chopped off the limbs protecting the demons face.

I tightened the grip on my blade as I lied on the ground, my heart racing in terror and anticipation.

The demon in a rage quickly countered the boy thrusting a first into his side. Tanjirou was sent flying into a nearby tree dropping onto the ground. I took my chance to move and sprint over to the unconscious boy.

"T-TANJIROU!" I cried, clutching his bleeding head.

He was out for only 15 seconds before opening his eyes. As the demon ran towards us Tanjirou didn't waste a second releasing himself from my arms and jumping up.

He leapt into action once again running forward continuing to chop off the arms that blocked him. I couldn't do much but watch, like I was in a trance. His graceful moves clouded my thoughts.

I was released from my daze when he turned to me.

"Y/N JUMP!" He demanded and I did so.

Just as I did arms sprouted out of the ground reaching for me. I shot my head up glancing forward at the arm now heading towards me. Tanjirou managed to block it with a head butt but I wasn't as quick receiving the blow. The air in my lungs we're knocked out as I went flying into a nearby tree.

I fluttered my eyes open, ignoring the ache in my chest to see Tanjirou running full speed up the demon's arms.

"FULL FOCUS!" he exclaimed.

"Breath of the water

First form: water surface slice"

In a flash, the head of the demon fell to the ground.

Mustering all the strength I could I stood up making my way over to Tanjirou. As I walked I felt the atmosphere turn from one of rage to sorrow. I peered down at the demon and stood in front of him.

Tanjirou who stood closer to the demon than I did grabbed his hand. He put it to his head and closed his eyes mumbling a prayer.

After the demon turned to ash I looked over at Tanjirou who was now staring down at his own hands.

My body moved on it's own making my way over to the boy. I grabbed his now tattered hands and smiled up at him.

"You did well, don't be sad anymore it's all over." I said with a crooked smile.

"Thank you, Y/N." He replied and I only smiled.

We stood there for a while and I didn't let go of his hand. The sound of the leaves around us knocked me back into my senses and I quickly stepped back.

"I apologize!" I exclaimed embarrassed by my actions.

He quickly put up his hands and waved them back and forth. "Its okay! I Didn't mind!"

I felt my face heat up as I bowed my head down. He only chuckled in response as I continued to apologize. After a couple of apologies he put his hand on my head and smiled.

I looked up and couldn't resist the grin that spread across my face, my heart never slowing down.
