England 1200's
Casta Peverell daughter of the middle Peverell son Cadmus was always a quiet girl. Her father never recovered from the death of his darling wife in the birthing bed and refused to have any part of his child's life. Oh he made sure she was cared for and never wanted for anything, but the one thing she desired was her father's time and love. Raised by the family house elves and a variety of tutors while her father traveled parts unknown with his brothers. Casta proved to be very talented despite her quiet demeanor. By the age of 15 she was a fully qualified witch with the animagus form of a basilisk. Now that had been a surprise, she felt through her meditations that she would be some form of serpent which wasn't all that shocking as she had discovered at a young age she was a parseltongue but a basilisk, that was not something she had planned for. Luckily she had completed her first shift alone in her bedroom in front of a mirror. Her room had been pretty much destroyed due to the sheer bulk of her form but had also been easily fixed once she reverted to her human shape.
At the age of 17 her father had arrived home seemingly happier than she had ever seen him, she listened as he spoke of death and the gifts he and his brothers had received and she watched from behind a hidden portrait as he summoned his mother from deaths cold embrace. She then watched as her mother begged him to let her go, which he did, but he then followed her by hanging himself from the chandelier. So at the age of 17 Casta peverell became an orphan. She also made a life changing decision, although she didn't know it at the time. She concluded that deaths gifts were not ment for the living world and he had in fact tested her family. They had failed, but she would not.
After months of preparation Casta left on her journey to search out the other hallows. She first tracked down her eldest uncle Antioch, it did not prove difficult, she watched concealed as he drank and bragged of his wand. She also watched as a man slit his throat and stole the elder wand for his own. This did not last however for as soon as he stepped from the inn Casta's basilisk form petrified him and she took the wand and concealed it within her bag along with the resurrection stone. The search for her younger uncle Ignotus proved more difficult for he had the invisibility cloak made by death himself, unfortunately for him the cloak only hid one, so after a few friendly owls between her and his youngest son she was able to find their home. In the dead of night she slithered through their wards as she had come to find no matter how formidable wards were, wizards always underestimated an animagis. Once entering her uncles home she quickly found his room, she replaced deaths cloak with one she had fashioned herself with noone being the wiser.
Now in control of all three hallows at the tender age of 19 she again slithered over formidable wards, this time directly into bowls of the ministry of magic where she knew there to be a veil to the other side. Once at the veil she placed all three items in front and simply waited. The Chambers cooled to an alarming temperature and death himself stepped through the veil. In anger he spoke "so young Peverell you wish to be my master," at those words she quickly interrupted knowing this could be her end, "Lord death, I have acquired your boons to return them to their rightful owner, I have no desire to be master of anyone, my only wish is to return that which was not rightfully taken."
Death stilled in that moment, staring down at the young witch before him, reading her soul and was surprised at what he found. This remarkable being truly had no inclination to hold power over death, her greatest desire was to have a father who loved her above all others and would spend time with her. Death then took a breath and to Casta the room seemed to warm slightly which shocked her, " I would give you your greatest desire child, I would take you into my cold embrace, make you my daughter in all ways, you would need to leave behind all that you hold dear." Casta could feel the warmth spreading through the Chambers, her fears abated and her heart clenched with hope for what felt like the first time in her short life, "a real father?" She stammered, "yes, please, I accept." With that she stepped into deaths cold embrace and felt the warmth she had been missing her whole life. In a sudden blast of primal power the two had disappeared.
