"i hope you two have fun! i'm so sorry for canceling last minute, i completely forgot my family's reunion was today!" shuhua explained, tone full of guilt as she bowed down to jeno and jaemin.
the three were currently at the park, after shuhua invited them both to hang out with her. it was after school, and the sun was beginning to set prettily.
"don't worry about it.." jeno said, offering her a light smile. "i forget the reunion always comes up on this day, too." jaemin told, shuhua nodding along with him. "i seriously can't believe i didn't remember," shuhua rolled her eyes at her own mistake. she quickly checked her phone as messages came and came in. "i need to get going. again, i'm really sorry!" she said sincerely, but the boys thought nothing of it and watched her speed-walk away.
once the girl was near the end of the corner, she looked both ways and crossed the street, taking her phone out as it began ringing. shuhua smiled at who she saw was calling, pressing the answer button right after. "hello?"
"i'm heading out right now, babe." the voice spoke gently. "me too," shuhua replied, running a hand through her long hair. "i'll see you at the café soon, soojin-ah."
of course shuhua's family had a reunion around this time of year; they just haven't organized one in years.
but, jaemin and jeno didn't have to know that.
"... wanna go to the corner store around the block?" jaemin asked, moments after shuhua left. hearing his voice made jeno turn his head up from looking down at the ground. he locked eyes with jaemin again, that dreamy need of getting lost in them wanting to take over him. but he stopped himself before that could happen.
"sure." jeno responded. jaemin nodded, and the two began their walk towards the corner store. they took their time, walking slowly and watching how the sun shaded everything around them a hazy pink. the older ended up focusing on that so much since he was really nervous, that he walked past the corner store even though jaemin had already stopped walking.
".. jeno?" the said boy heard his name, and seemed to snap out of it. he blinked, looking around him and realizing jaemin wasn't there. he then turned around, and saw jaemin standing in front of the small shop, jeno several feet away from him. "s-sorry.." he murmured, catching up to the younger as they both entered the store.
