"10 TO BE EXACT"
"BREAKING NEWS, following an earlier incident, there has been an increase in the infected. This virus, created by products that remain unknown, has made its way into the community and is infecting more civilians. "
Nathan lowered his eyebrows in both confusion and worry.
"We have discovered that the victims of the virus have developed violent tendencies and have begun to att-".
Suddenly the deep blare of a horn silenced the reporter and the sky was momentarily covered with army helicopters.
Quickly looking up and around, Nathan saw pedestrians running in the opposite direction of the traffic and drivers trying to exit their cars, only to be stopped by the sudden appearance of police officers.
The sound of authoritative orders, police vehicles and air crafts increased, causing Nathan to squeezed his eyes shut.
Slowly opening his eyes, he stared ahead of him.
His eyes widened in shock and confusion.
The back doors of the ambulance began to strain from an unknown weight and shake from a constant pushing force.
Dark spots of burgundy decorated the small window.
Suddenly, the doors swung open.
One male and two females busted from the back of the van.
The patient, covered in blood, rushed towards the other female paramedic as she began to run from her, accompanied by her male work partner, fleeing from the scene.
Nathan jumped in his seat.
He watched in horror.
The female patient came to a halt and dropped to the floor, remaining still.
This alerted the nearby policemen as they quickly surrounded her and raised their weapons.
Suddenly, her neck snapped upwards, causing her head to face Nathan's view and the offices flinched in fear.
Slowly leaning forward in his seat, Nathan noticed the absence of something in her grey eyes however, he was unable to pinpoint what that was.
Suddenly, her body began to violently convulse as her eyes rolled to the back of her head, her mouth producing inhuman groans.
The officers began to shout meaningless commands but stayed frozen in their place, too afraid to engage in physical contact.
Then she abruptly sat up.
Slowly turning her head to evaluate each officer that stood before her, finally focusing on one.
Suddenly, she sprung from her position, pouncing on that specific policeman.
The women barred her teeth, growling in an animalistic manner, before biting repeatedly into his throat and face.
The man screamed out in pain, pushing and clawing at the women on top of him.
Blood from the man's jugular started to leap out from his neck, spraying into himself, the women and the officers around him.
His man's frantic actions began to decrease as his eyes began to slowly shut.
This made one of the officers panic, releasing a bullet from the magazine of the chunky AK and into the body of the women.
This caused her to stop.
Suddenly, she began to attack the man that had shot her, repeating what had happened to the previous officer while the others ran.
Nathan's eyes widened in fear and his mouth dropped open in pure horror.
Moments later, the man laid seemingly lifeless on the ground. However, his body began to twitch.
The man sat up.
His eyes opened to reveal that the green colour of the officer's irises had disintegrated and was replaced with a dull grey.
His mouth hung open and blood dripped down his chapped bottom lip and down his chin as he groaned and gasped.
He was alive.
The man that had been murdered moments ago had come back to life in a matter of seconds.
10 to be exact.
Sat in his car, Nathan felt the sudden need to escape.
His hand, which was violently shaking, reached out towards the car door and jerked it open.
By now many people had left their vehicles and were running wild in the street.
Stumbling out of his car, Nathan stood still beside it, his hand held tightly on to the roof, knowing if he let go his knees would buckle.
His eyes frantically looked around and his heart was beating abnormally fast as he tried to grasp on to the current situation.
Too many noises and movement were happening at once, making it difficult to focus.
Without paying attention, Nathan mindlessly stepped away from his car.
He was clueless as to what was ploughing towards him.
At the last moment, his head snapped towards a vehicle.
However, he was too slow.
Within a second the car collided with his body, sending his head through the windscreen before being violently flung into the pavement.
Unable to move, all Nathan could do was focus his blurry vision on the floor, were rushed and panic footsteps stomped against its surface.
His eyelashes, now clogged with his blood, began to feel heavy as they dropped, sending him into a world of darkness.
