Chapter two
I awoke to my alarm clock, it read 7:00 am.
I sighed and rolled over on my bed to stare at my ceiling. I wonder where mom is right now and what she's doing.
My mom was my best friend as I was growing up, always taking me shopping and on cool trips. I don't know what happened to her, she just simply had a change in behavior. Thinking about her made me sad and quiet, opposite of what I want to be. I guess reminiscing on my life in Florida probably won't set the best mindset for my second first day of school of high school.
I decided to loosely curl my colored hair which fell right a couple inches above my belly button. Going into my new closet I smiled and chose boyfriend style jeans and a simple olive green sweater, throwing on my brown boots. I applied my classic look, winged eyeliner, mascara and dark red lipstick.
From outside a car rumbled to life. I peeped through my bedroom blinds to see a light blue convertible. The man, who I assumed was my neighbor, had jet black hair and wore a leather jacket. He was about 5'9, which was tall compared to my 5'1 and curvy body figure. I watched the back of him as he strode to his front door.
"Well today is already starting off to a good start" I whispered to myself.
My dad was staying at our house today to do paperwork for the building he rented out for his business, which happened to be selling guns and other hunting weapons. Hunting was popular around here, so my dad thought his store would be successful in Mystic Falls.
As I walk into the kitchen and grab a granola bar my dad makes conversation over the kitchen table. "Have a good day at school today sweetie, I know you'll do great. Stop at the office for your classes and let me know how everything goes."
"Thanks dad. I'll be home a little later, I want to go check out the town." I said giving him a hug.
I felt relieved that this morning was off to a good start, I hope it stays like this for me and my dad. I could tell my dad was just as anxious as I was about starting life here, but in a way it made me more comfortable I wasn't the only one.
To avoid getting lost on my first day of school, I put in the Mystic Falls High School address into my iPhone. It was about 10 minutes away from my house, and gave me a scenic view of the town. I drove through the woods and tall trees and passed over a wicker bridge, eventually getting into the busier part of town. I smiled as the sweet air filled my car and blew my hair back. As I pulled into the school parking lot, a wave of nerves hitting me. I felt confident, but at the same time uneasy and timid.
Navigating my way through the halls with several stares from students, I looked down at my schedule. I had Algebra 2, English, U.S. History, Art, and Environmental Science. Since I completed French at my old school, I was exempt for 2 periods and got to leave early. In my mind I thought about what to do here while I walked throughout school with my headphones in, tuning out the world. During lunch I'd probably go outside and read a book or text Andrea and Lena.
I wonder if that attractive neighbor goes to school here. That would make my day a little better.
I got to Mr. Saltzman's class early, with only a few other students in desks. The convenient thing about being new on the first day of school was that there isn't any assigned seats (A/N Although she was in school for 3 days, it's Mystic Falls first day of school). So my awkward and shyness about where to sit just blended in with the other students. I decided to sit in the middle, since this was a class I would actually focus and be excited to learn in. I felt comfortable in this class already, and even a girl Bonnie sat next to me and talked to me.
