"I HAVE A PROBLEM. Well, two problems." Madeleine shouldn't of been surprised. Their lives were a neverending problem. Caroline text Madeleine this morning with 911. In their world, an emergency meant anything from a death threat to a bad hair day.

"What's wrong?"

"Tyler kissed me."

Madeleine's jaw dropped. She hadn't sensed anything between the two in the small time they had spent together. Then again, Madeleine was typically dense when it came to romance. "What?"

"I know! Just as I was fixing things with Matt." Caroline exclaimed.

"What are you going to do?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, do you have feelings for Tyler?"

"What! No. I'm with Matt." Caroline said with a little too much force. "Besides, it wouldn't matter because he hates me now. He knows about Damon and Stefan. He knows what happened to Mason."

Madeleine ran a hand over her face. "Oh my god."

Somebody knocked at the door. Madeleine could tell by the torso seen through the door window who it was. "That's Stefan."

Caroline opened the door. "What's wrong?"

"Tyler knows about you. He knows that Damon killed Mason. I didn't say a word. It's that Jules. She had a run in with Damon. Tyler was so upset. The look on his face...He was so betrayed."

"Wow, this is bad."

"You're not going to tell Damon?"

"If we tell Damon he'll kill Tyler." Madeleine said, unable to avoid the facts. Even if she had witnessed his humanity with Rose, he was still impulsive and reckless. He wouldn't give Tyler a chance.

"Damon won't hesitate. He thinks all werewolves should die." Stefan said. "He's not wrong. What if Tyler tries to retaliate? He has every right. He can get himself killed."

"We're not gonna let that happen. We have to get him and reason with him before he does something stupid. You have to talk to him. Just try to explain. Madeleine can go too. You both always have the right things to say. Okay, he and I...we're friends."

Stefan looked like he didn't want to do this. Madeleine hadn't expected him to be angry but he was. He looked at Madeleine as if to silently ask her if she was up for it. She nodded. "Fine. We'll talk to him."

Stefan and Madeleine drove in complete silence and when they reached the Lockwood estate, they were still silent. It wasn't the comfortable silence that Madeleine was used to with Stefan but the awkwardness of tiptoeing around somebody's wrath. His eyes were swimming with so many emotions and she couldn't read a single one of them.
