Truth or Dare
Sue's POV
Felix and I was on our way home and he brought me an umbrella because it was raining heavily. His umbrella looked really odd because it was a bit smaller than the usual umbrellas I use. He also gave me his coat to keep me warm. I gasped when I heard the thunders. It was already dark and home is still far from where we are. I'm not even sure if I can go home safely.
"Are you alright Sue?" He asked me.
"I'm okay Felix, don't worry about me. Thank you."
"Do you want to stay somewhere while we wait for the rain to stop?"
"If only Felix but there's no place for us to stay. All houses are closed because of the storm."
"Not all Sue. Let's go." He gently placed his hand on my back which is something that I got used to. He usually do that when he is worried.
We stopped in front of a building made of rock. Sadly, the front door was closed. Felix walked towards the door and knocked. Nobody answered so he banged the door. I wasn't sure if he was angry or he just did that to let the people inside hear him. He kept on banging the door and suddenly, it opened revealing an old man wearing spectacles.
"Oh! Mr. Lewis? What are you doing outside at a bad weather like this? Please come in!" The old man opened the door widely to let us in. Felix held me and went inside. I was flabbergasted with what I saw. This place wasn't just any building, it's a library!
"I live over there. My house and the Library are connected." I was dripping rainwater so must keep away from the books. The old man opened the wooden door and entered. The wooden door lead to a living room. There were three couches, cabinets, frames, candles, and a lot of stuff. The old man took the coat I was wearing and gave us towels to dry ourselves.
"Here Mr. Lewis, you can wear my suit. You will have a cold if you won't change. I'm sorry Mr. Felix but I don't have a dress that I cant let your sweetheart borrow. I live alone." My eyes widened with his words. He must think that I am Felix's girlfriend.
"How rude of me, by the way I am Edgar Brooks. It's an honor to meet you Miss."
"Jane Moore, it's my pleasure to meet you sir." I slightly bowed my head at the old man.
"Thank you so much for your help Mr. Brooks but do you have a warm coat that she can use?"
"Yes Mr. Lewis. Wait here."
I looked around. So he lives alone? Isn't he married or had children? He must be the town's librarian. He must have lived his life well. He could read all the books that he wanted. He had wrinkles all over his face and some of his hair turned white. He was fat and had green eyes. He returned with a big coat on his arms. "Thank you so much for your kindness Sir." I thanked him and he smiled at me.
"Alright then, I will leave the two of you here while I go finish recording all the books that just arrived yesterday okay? Mr Lewis, you can change your clothes over there. You should drink tea which is on the table to keep yourselves warm" He pointed at a wooden door. "I will just tell you when the rain stops. Please make yourselves at home." After that, he left the both of us inside the living room. I drank the cup of tea and started to feel better.
"I often go to the library before since then, Mr. Brooks became my friend. He lives alone in the library. His first love, Mabel was killed because of Jealousy. A High Class fell in love with Mr. Brooks but he loved Mabel most and soon found out that Mabel felt the same way. Mabel got killed after a few months. Mr. Brooks knew who killed her but he had no power to fight against the high class. He made a promise that Mabel will be the first and last love of his life and now his life is like this." Felix spoke.
