/hāt/

verb
feel intense or passionate dislike for (someone).

It's a strong word.
Is used to unpack the last patch of emotions that left you cold.

That left you dormant.
No one was important enough
To keep you going.

So now your speeches turn Ww2.
Your politics turn dread for more than the guy at the local coffee shop.

For your post man!
For your congressman throwing every letter away knowing every n-word that it contains!
Not wanting to know what God you pray to.

Just where they drop you from,
And do they have any intention in catching before your sin covers the inside of another Walmart ?

Or did you already get to the school?
Not to generalize or minimize your pain by any measure.

But I can imagine no pleasure from bringing us down to your level.
No stress released from snatching sons from their mother's arms.

So I'm torn;
Weather to blame society for only entertaining the notion that our people are built broken.

Or just assume that this is destiny's unbreakable choke on our life spans
Making every second away from my family,
closer to your guts meeting the floor.

And as those infamous red , white, and blue lights come to
I wonder... did I have a choice not to
/hāt/ you?
