Levi's POV
"I've did it!" Her high pitch squeals rang in my ear as she screeched once more about her successful application to the science competition. "Hah! I'm gonna do it, Levi!"
I grumbled gently, curling up into a small ball on her bedroom floor. "Heard you the first time, Hanji."
"You don't seem happy..." She collapses next to me, pushing her finger into my cheeks. A smile appeared on her face, "Tell me... what's on your mind. Do you hate me for being in the science competition?"
"More like you're nerdier than I thought you were. Where is this place, anyways?"
"Um... 2 states over." I growled gently when she said that. I still didn't want her taken away from me. "And I'm taking you with me."
"Me?"
She nods, giggling softly. "I'm taking you with me because I've noticed that you've always been by my side. Walking me to school in the morning, staying with me for lunch, walking me home in the evening. I've never saw such dedication from anyone else but you. Bet if you didn't come with me, you'll find your own way to come to me. Aren't I right?"
Grumbling gently, I had to admit it. No matter what, I've always tried to be by her side. I hate to say it, but it's true. I like her. "Yes... you're right. Done with your gloating now or do I need to put a sock in your mouth?"
"I would love to see you try, Levi."
A smirk crawled onto my face as I motioned for a sock already on the ground. "I'll do it."
"I was joking!" She squeals as I grabbed it and pushed her to the ground. "No! Don't actually do it! Levi!"
"Aren't you seeing me try it, Hanji? Isn't that what you said?" The coldness that once engulfed me... seemed to disappear. "Come on, admit that."
"I do admit it!" She laughs and squeals a bit more. "Levi! Just stop!"
Chuckling, I pulled away and tossed her sock into a basket. "There, I stopped." The door opened and I saw Hanji's dad peeking in. "Oh, hey Dad."
"Everything's alright?" His menacing eyes stared straight at me- like I was up to no good. I scoffed it all of, seeing him wanting to be a jerk to me. He loved how smart Hanji was, and wanted her to have a successful future. Then there's me. "Do I have any need to be worried?"
"Naw Dad, it's alright. Promise."
He just... stared at me. "Alright... yell for help if something goes bad-"
"Dad!" Hanji laughs gently, smiling towards me. "Levi's not that bad to me. He may seem cold, but he does have a heart. And if he does try to do anything funny, I'll know. He's not that comedic..."
"Hanji..." I growled gently, ready to tackle her down.
"Either way, your competition is in 3 days. Better get your stuff packed up now. And I don't want that boy here while you do that." He says, motioning for me to get out.
I was about to leave, but Hanji pulled me down. "Give me a few more minutes- please? He's coming with me to the competition and I want ideas for things I want to wear during the competition."
Her father sighed heavily, "Fine. As long as he leaves out the front door. Not out your window- or I can report it to the police." He closes the door and footsteps receded away from it.
"Jeez, he can tend to overreact, huh?" Hanji chuckles, pulling me close. "He thinks we're in a relationship... and thinks you're all game and stuff like that."
"Haven't you told him that we're not? Just friends?"
Shyly, her eyes moved away from me. "Well... I didn't say that."
"Why not?"
"Because I want you to ask me out, dork." She laughs softly as I just froze in place. "Listen, if you're gonna hang out with me and not ask me out on a date or ask me to be your girlfriend, we can't just be friends. I can read your mind- in a way. You like me, I like you. It's just right you ask me out."
"Damn you, four-eyes..." I muttered under my breath, chuckling a bit. "I hate you so much."
Her arms wrapped around me and I smelled that lavender scent on her. How it smelled so sweet, and I just pulled her closer to me. "If you hated me, you would've been resistible. But you're pulling me close and having me near. You love me and you don't want me anywhere else but with you."
"Mhm.. fine, I yield. Hanji, w-will... w-will you be my girlfriend?"
Hanji's soft chuckles made me feel ever-so warm inside. "Shorty, what do you think my answer is? It's a 'yes' of course..." She says gently before kissing my cheek.
