[Y/N's P.O.V]

The base was smaller than I expected, tents scattered over the place, crackling fire flickering in the middle with teenagers crowded around it. People were loading things onto vehicles, packing and enjoying themselves. Jumping out the truck, my head felt light, my balance wavering for a moment. Steadying myself, I swallowed back the sick feeling in my stomach as I held back my coughs, letting a few slip occasionally.

"You alright?", Allison tilted her head, worry on her face.

"Yeah", I spluttered, "just the dust".

She nodded, keeping an eye on me as the three girls took us into the camp, talking the whole time.

"This is it, we've been planning it for over a year", Harriett spoke, "all for us kids".

"You're lucky you found us, we're moving at first light", Sonya laughed, something the way she did similar to Newt.

"Where's Vince?", Malia asked a random guy, who pointed in the direction we were heading.

"Who's Vince?", Brenda wondered.

Following the guides, my feet began to drag, my body longing for sleep. Something bubbled in my throat, legs feeling weak, I still covered it up as much as possible yet Scott and Thomas knew I was getting worse. If it wasn't for Malia getting used to the whole human thing, I would have been busted.

"He's the one who decides if you get to stay", Harriett smirked.

"I thought this was supposed to be an army", Minho spoke, scanning over the place.

"We were", a deep voice answered, a man strolling out a tent.

He was quite tall, buff and had a stubby beard with an aged yet wise face.

"This is all that's left of us. A lot of good people died to get us this far", he continued, looking to us, "Who are they?".

"Immunes", Malia replied, panic sparking me at her statement, "we caught them coming up the mountains".

"Did you check them?", Vince asked, my lungs getting tight, mouth going dry.

"I know these", Malia pointed to the pack, "I trust them".

"Same with Aris", Sonya added.

"Yeah, well I don't, check them", the man demanded.

I  heaved in a gulp of air, eyes tempting to roll to the back of my head, breathing became harder while my vision blurred.

One of the men caught onto me, "Hey, boss, she doesn't look so good".

Catching the groups attention, Allison's face morphed into one of startling concern. Knees beginning to give way, I threw my bow off my back, the weapon clanging on the floor. Collapsing to the ground, I coughed up blood into my hand, every part of me hurting. The world became disorientated, the heaving accompanied by constant hacking, hands grabbing my arms. It was so painful I just wanted it all to stop, my head throbbing so much I thought it would explode.

Thomas landed by the girl's side, cradling her while she struggled to let oxygen in.

"Y/N, Y/N, what's happening?", Allison cried, Scott placing his hand in hers for comfort.

The brunette squeezed it tight, fearing the worst for her little sister.

"I'm s... sorry, I'm... sorry", Y/N gasped out, arching her back from the pain, tears leaking out the corners of her eyes.

"What's happening?!", Newt exclaimed, "What's wrong?".

Thomas bowed his head, feeling the guilt take over him.

"Thomas", Newts voice cracked.

Just like him, everyone was panicking. Y/N was their anchor if they lost her, they would lose their minds. Vince crouched down, the bandage on her leg taking his interest. With creased brows, he slowly peeled it back, stumbling back in horror at the bite underneath it.

"Crank!", he announced, ripping his gun from his pocket and pointing it to her, "We've got a crank!".

"No!", Scott yelled, holding his hand up to the man.

Two right arm members forcefully pulled Thomas away from her, his first reflex to fight back. Allison went to take his place, Harriett holding her firmly and giving her a sharp look. Y/N stayed alone in the sand, writhing and gripping her chest, the sad looks from her friends making everything worse.

"Just listen okay!", Scott stood his ground, "She's not dangerous yet".

"Well, you shouldn't have brought her here in the first place!", Vince argued, "We can't just let cranks enter this place! It wouldn't last a week! And she's one of them, a crank!".

"Don't call her that!", Thomas snapped, gritting his teeth, still trying to escape the guards' grips.

"Please, we just want to save her", Scott pleaded, "there's gotta be something you can do".

Vince had a moment of silence, his gaze fixated on the ill girl, "yeah, there is...".

"Thank you", the alpha sighed.

The leader stepped back, placing a hand in his gun, the barrel clicking, "I can put her out of her misery".

Thomas yelled, desperately trying to get to the girl, kicking and squirming. Flicking his wrist, the wolfs eyes beamed red as he growled deeply, claws extended, showing he wasn't going to back down.

Allison was held back by Harriett and Sonya, tears falling down her cheeks, "you get away from my sister!".

"Woah, woah, woah", a woman ran over, chocolate curls bouncing on her back, "Vince, stop, now".

Huffing, he put the weapon away.

"And let that boy go for god's sake", she demanded, Thomas falling from their hold and instantly flew to Y/N, "someone tell me what is going on here".

"She's infected, Mary, there's nothing we can do", Vince spoke, a hint of sympathy in his voice.

"No", she shook her head, her smile finding the brunette boy on the floor, "but he can".
