[Y/N's P.O.V]
The explosion never came. Instead, a blaring of a truck horn echoed, Jorge and Brenda yelling at us to move out the way as they shot at the guards. Retaliating, Wicked shot back, the prisoners under their hold dashing away to grab any weapon they could find. A wide smile grew on my face at their return, not predicting them to come back. Glancing over to Thomas, he held the same surprised expression, shaking his head slightly.
"Hey Y/N!", my head turned to see Derek, my bow and arrows in his fist, throwing them to me.
I gave him a short nod of gratitude before he ran after the pack, roaring and displaying his wolf side. Slinging the bag over my back, a figure advancing towards us caught my attention, my hand snapping to pull an arrow upon the string. Thomas stumbled about to see behind him as I effortlessly made a guard fall, a smirk erupting on my mouth.
The boy turned to me, dropping the bomb and slipping his one hand up my neck to clasp my cheek, the other tugging on my waist as he sloped me towards his lips gently. I gasped at the sudden contact, stomach burning and momentarily forgetting that a literal war was happening as all sound became mixed and fuzzy. My free hand felt the scraggy ends of his hair, his skin warm and grainy with sand as we hesitantly parted, air refilling my tingling lungs. I rested my forehead on him, my brows furrowing, my mind confused yet not complaining of his actions.
He gave me a short breathy laugh, "I've still got to get used to that bow thing".
"You never will, now...", I slid my hand to his shoulder, a sparkle glinting in my eye, reflecting in his, "... let's go kick some ass".
Pricking the corner of his mouth up, he clasped the bomb from the dirt, jogging over to the guard and grasping the gun. Pulling out another arrow, he shot while I did, helping the immunes to escape.
Vince hurried all the kids to the large truck, gathering more and more as they all fled to safety. I dashed about, firing down any wicked member I caught sight of, not caring how many arrows I used. This situation was dire and a conflict we were going to win.
Orange roared fiercely in the sky, ash and soot strangling me with every breath I took, sweat beading on my brow. The shouting of a familiar voice overtook my whole attention, my hair whipping me in the face as I turned sharply to see Allison struggling against the Rat Man across the battleground.
Beginning to sprint as sharply as my legs would allow, I weaved and dodged as I watched the scene before me. Allison's crossbow was knocked from her hands, her guard instantly being thrown up, a snarl forming on Janson's ugly face. He kicked her the floor swiftly, my legs burning and eyes watering from the frustration of not being quick enough. Raising his arm, the glint of silver broke through the smog, my sister being trapped.
"Get away from her!", I cried out, halfway across to reaching the brunette, tears threatening to pour.
Pain crawled through my whole body, my brain screeching at me to stop. Continuing to race, I tried to shoot my arrows, missing from the distraction and unsteady hand I provided.
"Allison!", a common wail broke through the explosions, a clear shot ringing out, my heart-stopping and chest constricting as I paused on my charge, grief flooding my form.
Rat man left, giving me a poison-laced glare, my face wet as I finally reached her. I tossed my weapon aside, skidding down to her, a broken smile on her rapidly paling lips, my hand pressing down on her stomach wound.
"No, Alli, no", my voice cracked, "you'll be fine, we can heal you, just hold on a little longer".
She laced her fingers in mine, droplets shining in her brown iris', "Y/N, all... all those years of... of missing you and now...", she breathed heavily, "... I get to see you one last time, it's perfect... my baby sister... all grown up".
"Please, Allison, please", I couldn't control my voice, the words barely a whisper, "don't leave me".
"N/N, I'm... I'm so proud of you...", she croaked, "I'll always... be... here", her other hand resting in her chest pointed to her heart.
She gave one last brave smile, the light behind her eyes being taken away, her frame collapsing limply.
"No", I cried, drawing her close to me, "No!"
My vision blurred, shapes approached, one sliding down next to me, their figure telling me it was Scott. Continuing to hug Allison, a clutch leaned on my shoulder. I didn't want to leave her, I couldn't.
"Y/N", it was Newt, his soft words being drowned in the wave of violence stirring inside me for the rat-man, my grasp on my sister transferring to the wolf beside me.
Gritting my teeth, I sniffed, snatching my bow and pushing past the group. Hands tried to stop me but I shrugged them off, storming on after the murderer. Spotting his grey hair, my features twitched in rage, an arrow being snatched and drawn back. Gliding over the yellow grain to challenge him as he finished off another immune, I bawled out, missing his chest through the gathering of vapour and capturing his shoulder alternately. The man hissed in pain, my boots dragging on up to him as I swung my fist at him, my weapon being ditched in the process.
"That's for my sister", I seethed, blood boiling more when he only scratchily laughed in response.
"Y/N come on, we've gotta go!", Newt yelled, my thoughts flickering, "everyone's gathered come on!"
Distracted, I removed my glare on Jason, looking to the boy. I watched his face morph into horror, his mouth opening wide, "move!"
Hitting my stomach, I crumpled to the ground, electricity running through my veins my limbs turning numb immediately. Shaking on the ground, Janson hobbled to stand, stunner gun in his fist, a smirk on his shrivelled appearance. My hearing buzzed, the shouts from the pack and gladers ricocheting around my skull, a rough grip tugging me up and dragging me. World spinning around me, my head lolled to the side, seeing Minho out cold and also being hauled. Metal scraped against my clothing, my back hitting a hard surface, the numbness restricting sound from leaving me.
Sight clearing for the last few seconds before I was consumed, I saw Thomas fighting against Jorge's grip, his face pained as he screamed out. Shutting his frame out, a silver wall concealed the destruction, the agony of my only known friends- my family, from me. Surrendering my head down from its heaviness, black dots danced within my veiw, the wrinkled face of rat-man being the last image I saw, an exhausted tear dripping from my eye.
"Well, Y/N", he drawled out, wiping his bloodied nose "... this is most unexpected".
A/N: Wow, guess who finally updated after a millennia, sorry to keep you hanging guys. I think that this is a nice ending, a bit of a cliffhanger yet still somewhat satisfying (don't kill me please). I've been struggling to find a motivation to continue this story so I thought it'd be best to end it and save any more waiting for you readers. There may not be another story soon but who knows, I do have quite a bit of time on my hands and I get bored easily, especially now. That brings me onto my next topic.
I hope you are all safe and well, this pandemic has been tough for everyone and my heart goes out to those who are suffering and the NHS who are working nonstop to help us.
