Evie's P.O.V:
"Em… Hi, I'm Evie. I'm 12 years old. Er… I like to read and listen to music and like black. … … Er… … em … imalsoblind" I say rushing at the end afraid of what they will say.Jake grabs my hand and tells me I did a good job. I feel my confidence rise until someone asks "wait, what?" Jake draws an "A" on my hand so I know it was Ashton. "My name's -" I begin but he quickly says "no what did you say at the end" I take a deep breath and say "imalsoblind". "Slowly," Calum, this time says, and Jake takes over "she's blind" "like blind?" Luke asks "yep nothing" is Jake's reply.
"Anyway you should stop wasting your time here there are many people waiting for you, bye!" I say, hoping they will leave quickly. Jake squeezes my hand telling I was harsh so I draw a circle on the back of his hand to tell him I would be rolling my eyes (if it wasn't painful).
But I hear them leave and Jake gentle pushes me back so I am sitting on the "bed" it a cardboard box with a blanket on it.
"Are you okay?" He asks and I nod. "Evie," he said sternly, "yes, I'm fine, confused but fine," I say. "Confused," Jake questions, "about why they came here," I tell me. "Maybe because you sing really well?" I shake my head and cover my face with the blanket.
Ashton's P.O.V:
I feel like a child, a child, banished me! Hahahaha. Funny.Luke's P.O.V:
She's cute and she seems fun. Maybe we should adopt her! She's perfect!Calum's P.O.V:
I love her maybe we could play sports together! Wait… how does that work?Michael's P.O.V:
I LOVE her! But will this work?Ashton's P.O.V:
We all walk downstairs into the foyer and look at each other. The boys look at me and nod. So I brace myself to talk to Ms Fisherman.I knock on her office door and walk-in when asked to enter. "Ms Fishermen we would like to adopt Evie." The second her name rolls of my tongue, the hag in front of me, stands at lightening spread. "You don't know what that thing is! You boys are young, you don't need a burden!" She began to ramble.
"I asked for the papers!" I say getting angry. She reluctantly hands me them. "You need to sign the top two pages and the rest are information about her" she informs me, and mumbles, "maybe you'll realise she's a monster," I snatch a pen of off the table and walk out, slamming the doors closed.
When I walk outside the boys stare at me and Michael comes forward.
Michael's P.O.V:
"Hay Ashton, what happened?" I ask him as I walk towards him. He looks angry and for Ashton, that's not a good thing. "That hag!" He spits out, "she won't stop insulting Evie!""Anyway let's sign this and leave!" Ashton says. "There's a lot, Ashton!" Luke wines. "We just need to sign the first two pages and lock the rest away." He says.
"Why?" I ask. "This is her personal information. Hopefully, she'll tell us when she's ready." We all agree and decide that since Ashton and I are the eldest we will sign the legal guardian documentation.
Evie's P.O.V:
After half an hour, I hear a door slam and in alarm, I jump, Jake hugs me and calms me down.Almost five minutes later my door opens and I feel Jake shift on the bed as I sit up. "Get packed we have adopted you!" I hear about four voices say together. "Em. Jake can't be adopted!" I giggle. They all coo at me.
"No, we want to adopt you, Evie!" Someone says. Confused I look towards Jake who's no longer on the bed. "Evie, come on you need to pack!" He exclaims as he slams something closed.
"Wait, Jake, no I don't wanna go!" I whine. "It'll be okay these boys won't hurt you or make you do anything you're uncomfortable with, you can see it in their eyes." Reluctantly, I stand up and help him pack my stuff as he tells me where he's putting the stuff. Trying to memorize the plan.
Once we're done one of the boys ask if I'm ready and I nod and Jake hugs me, "I'll come to visit ASAP, promise" I nod as he kisses my forehead. Someone coughs and Jake hands me my cane and suitcase.
Once I have a grip on everything someone asks to hold the suitcase and I shake my head. Realising, they may be offended, I say, "it's okay, Sir, I can manage, thank you." Jake then asks to speak with the boys so I walk down to the foyer.
Jake's P.O.V:
I wait for Evie to go downstairs. When I'm sure she's safely down the stairs, I turn to the boys. "I hope you didn't feel offended, Evie has been alone for a long time and has done everything herself, thus she won't let you go things she feels that she can do, like take a suitcase downstairs, not because she doesn't trust you but because she likes to be as independent as she can. But when she feels more comfortable with you, which will take time as you are four boys, but it will happen and you will realise that she is lazy and will make you do everything." I laugh a little."You will need to guide her in new places you need to let her take control. So she holds you, not the other way around, and she will continue to use the white cane, don't be offended, eventually, she will warm up to you. Please give her some time." I finish.
The boys look at me in understanding and repeat some things, so I know they were listening. " Also it'll take her time to know whose who so maybe tell her whose speaking but I believe she may know Luke's voice since it is very similar to him singing. She doesn't know your backgrounds only your music." I conclude.
The boys P.O.V:
We all understand this was a huge responsibility, and we are ready to take it so we collectively agree to give Jake the address to our house and when the read it his face light up.Jake's P.O.V:
When the boys stopped their creepy telephonic thing they hand me a piece of folded paper. When I unfold it, there is am address written in cursive and it's the one next to my new house! Now I can tell Evie good news! But the boys look at me weird so I tell them, "I'll be moving into the house next door to you tomorrow," they all nod in sync. Totally not creepy.
Ashton's P.O.V:
Once Jake tells us we all relax since he and Evie seem close. It's good that she'll be able to trust someone and not worry that they are really far away from her. That's when we hear a large BANG and rush downstairs…
To see Ms Fishermans' door smashed against the wall and her screaming at Evie. "You're stupid! You are just a burden! You're just a charity case! They'll bring you back when they get their publicity!" She continues to hurl insults to the young girl, who simply stands there seemingly unnerved. So I step in and hand Ms Fishermen the papers and say to Evie, "say goodbye, you won't be back ever." Evie nods but doesn't move or say anything.
"Are we ready?" Michael asks. Evie nods and starts to move towards the front door with us behind her. Reaching the door it takes only a few seconds for her to undo the locks. And we can finally see daylight. Once Evie reaches the edge of the car park, she turns to face us, "Sorry Sir, I don't know where your vehicle is or whether I am walking,"
As Michael asks her to take his elbow, all I could think was 'why she thought we might make her walk??!'
Michael's P.O.V:
When Evie asks us I become really confused. But I decide to lead her to the car, as Jake said, I ask Evie if it's okay to lead her and then ask her to hold my elbow. Her grip is feather-light as if she's simply ghosting over me.
Once we get to the car I help her in and put my hand on her head so she doesn't hit her head on the roof of the car. I help her buckle in and go around to sit next to her.
