3rd Person
Later that day, The three figures rode home. The two younger apprentices, of course, making dinner.
"Harvest day tomorrow," y/n started up the conversation as they ate.
"It would seem so, yes." Halt responded.
"So... what's training looking like tomorrow?" Will asked totally-not-suspiciously. He and Y/n had made plans for tomorrow at the fair. Traditionally, it was a holiday. Travellers would set up stalls and booths. Y/n had never been to the Harvest day fair before, having no friends to go with and all.
"Well I do have a large amount of letters to go through," he had a side glance at the two apprentices, "But I'll allow you two to go and enjoy the fair." He took another sip of his sweet coffee.
Will grinned at Y/n and she winked back. "Okay. Thank you, dad." She said as normally as she could.
"Or you could stay and wo-"
"No!" Will said quickly, then coughed, "I mean, no, thank you, Halt. We'll be happy with going to the fair."
Halt his a grin, "oh, okay." He shrugged. That night, he rewarded the two with cloaks.

The pair rode their ponies slowly through the crowded fairground that had been set up outside castle walls. Will hadn't told Y/n what the plan was, just that she would enjoy it. The two had been getting along quite well.
It was Jenny who arranged the meeting for the holiday, encouraging the other former castle wards to join her with a promise of a batch of fresh mince pies that she would bring from the kitchen. None of the friends know that Y/n is coming.
They two stop under a large apple tree where everyone was supposed to meet up, but they were early.
Will and Y/n dismounted their beloved horses and led them to the shade of the tree, picking an apple for the horses.
They sat down and talked, leaning against the knobby trunk to wait.
"Why, it's young Will, isn't it? And miss Y/n as well?" Said a deep voice. They pair scrambled hastily to their feet and touch their foreheads in a polite salute. It was Baron Arald himself, seated astride his giant battle horse and accompanied by several other knights.
"Yes, sir." They replies in unison.
"A happy Harvest day to you, sir." Will said.
The Baron nodded in acknowledgment and leaned forward, slouching comfortably in his saddle.
"I must say, youngsters, you two look quite the part there, I almost didn't see you in that grey Rangers cloak. Has Halt been teaching you all his tricks already?" He asked.
Will glanced down at his cloak. "It'd He cloak, sir," Will said, "Halt calls it camouflage."
After small conversation with the Baron, he politely excused himself and the two sat back down in the shade.
"Y/n?" Will asked. She replied with a small hum, eating apple with her small throwing knife. "The battle of Morgarath, Halt tells me a ranger showed the cavalry a secret way across the Slipsunder, so they were able to attack the enemy from the rear.."
"Your point?"
"Was the Ranger who led the cavalry Halt?"
She was silent for a second or two before she finally answered. "Yes, it was him. And before you ask, the Baron wanted to reward him, but that's not the Ranger way."
He nodded simply before changing he subject to the Ranger horse breed.
Shortly after, the two heard a cough behind them. They scrambled up, ready to salute, but it was just Jenny.
"Will!" She said joyfully, wrapping him in a hug.
