He actually believed him. Never in his time working with the Joker has he ever seen him so furious. Not that Paul had the feeling that his plan would go off. But everyone had their doubts about everything. As the Joker smoked on his eleventh cigarette of the evening, he eventually said:

"Find her...

And even Paul shivered. Out of excitement. Out of...fear? What was he scared of? Everything was working according to his plan. The Joker will finally be himself again. Will finally be the brutal, insane and aggressive human being he is and forever will be. Right? Yes, just like that. So he stayed with him, until it was time to check on his prey again.

(Y/N) felt...wrong. Her sitting in this cage was wrong. Her going with him was wrong. Her leaving Arthur like this was wrong. And hell, did she feel dirty for it. She also felt hungry, but didn't want to eat the food he gave her. She didn't want to take any risk. Suddenly, she rethought it. Does it even matter? If this ends in Arthur killing her, there was no point in even trying. But was he so cruel? After all they have been through. After all the words, feelings and stories they scared with each other. Temporary Lovers don't to that.
And while she was starving, the hope of a happy ending fed her and gave her strength. So she didn't touch the food. Didn't even look at it.

Paul entered the room. With a devilish smile, he looked at her.

"Guess who want's you dead."

Now (Y/N) officially knew, that this was getting ridicolous. She probably wasn't gone missing for more than 24 hours, right? But she was knocked out.

"How long have I been here already?"

"Two days and exactly 6 hours."

(Y/N) stopped breathing for a second. Two. Days. It felt like she woke up several hours ago. She was out for two days.

"What the hell did you drug me with?"

"I soaked a tissue with knockout drops. These things really are fascinating."

"You are awful."

"And you are going to die. The Joker has sent me out to find you. We will leave very soon. So sent out your last prayers. It'll all be over soon."

With these words, he stormed out the room again. (Y/N) felt like there was an imaginary countdown going on. She had to think. So she relived every moment, that she encountered so far. When she woke up, Paul told her about her plan. It seemed like Paul told Arthur that she had gone missing, the day she woke up. That means, that Paul has been missing for two days too. Or at least hasn't told Arthur about it. That was very odd. Witnesses. There had to be a witness. No one saw Paul when he kidnapped her. But people most likely saw-

"-that she was going out of the base with Paul. There is something clearly off about that. We need to do something, Stella.", Dustin lectured his girlfriend about the situation.

"Where could they have gone? She has been missing for days now! She is my friend and I dont want to-"

"I saw something too.", Stella suddenly interrupted.

Dustin looked at her, trying to calm himself down. He grabbed her hands carefully.

"What did you see, Baby?"

"He wrote a letter. I don't know extactly what he wrote. But he gave it to the Joker. It seemed like he was pretending it to be from (Y/N)."

"Oh. My. God. Stella, you are amazing. I love you."

He gave her a kiss on the hand and wandered off. He ran to the Jokers room. Stella watched him go. She expected them to take really long for explaining everything and such. But Dustin returned almost immediately. Dustin had an indefinable face expression on his face. He didn't say anything. He ran to her and just hugged her. Tight. Then, she saw the Joker run out of his room, in a  unknown direction. He just ran. Fast.

As Paul held (Y/N) tightly on her arm, she felt her knees getting weak. All of the hope was still there, but it faded. Slowly but surely. She was still handcuffed, and there were bruises all over her body. She didn't know, what Paul did to her, and she honestly didn't want to know. Her blue jeans were ripped and her black t-shirt was stained with her own blood. She felt dried blood under her nose. Things were neither looking or feeling good.

Then he arrived. Gun in his hand. And a furious expression on his face. No. Furious was too soft. It seemed like the world was ending behind his eyes. Everything on earth got erased with a blink of an eye. He was living through Armageddon. And it was obvious for the blind.

Everything happened so quick. She got kidnapped what felt like hours ago. And now she was here. Looking at the love of her life who was potentially going to murder her right now.

"Boss! I got her! That little bitch wanted to leave you! I would never! Now kill her! Give her what she deserves!"

Arthur kept on walking in their direction.
The fire of Armageddon came right out of his eyes. (Y/N) could almost feel the heat. Almost. Because the real goal was drifting just a little off the sight of (Y/N)'s gaze. Arthur was aiming his heat on another person.

And just when Arthur lifted his gun to shoot, (Y/N) whispered under tears:

"I love you, Arthur."

Arthur shot. And missed.

Or did he?
