S2: Ep12. "Better Angels"The day after you lose someone is always the hardest because you go to speak to them, to tell them a joke maybe but when that space is empty whatever happiness you felt in the moment, the enjoyment just falls. Your heart drops into your chest again as you are faced with the reality of your loved one being gone.
Surrounded by the freshly covered grave everyone is silent as Rick speaks, few people let some sniffles out as quite tears fall down their cheeks, while others take deep breaths attempting to remain strong for our fallen. "Dale could-- could get under your skin. He sure got under mine, because he wasn't afraid to say exactly what he thought, how he felt. That kind of honesty is rare and brave. Whenever I'd make a decision," Rick pauses for a moment
"I'd look at Dale. He'd be looking back at me with that look he had. We've all seen it one time or another." I tune Rick out so I can focus on Glenn, he rocked on his feet slightly telling me that he's fighting the remaining tears. I slipped my left hand into his warm one intertwining our fingers together, I leaned against his shoulder and set my other arm on his bicep.
He sighed before leaning his head on top of mine and squeezing my hand. "I couldn't always read him, but he could read us. He saw people for who they were. He knew things about us-- The truth... Who we really are. In the end, he was talking about losing our humanity. He said this group was broken. The best way to honor him is to unbreak it."
"Set aside our differences and pull together, stop feeling sorry for ourselves and take control of our lives... Our safety... ...our future. We're not broken. We're gonna prove him wrong. From now on... We're gonna do it his way. That is how we honor Dale." Everyone nods slowly taking in his strong words

"It'll be tight, 14 people in one house." Rick tells Hershel who shakes his head "Don't worry about that. With the swamp hardening, the creek drying up..." Maggie crosses her arms "With 50 head of cattle on the property, we might as well be ringing a damn dinner bell." she adds snarkily "She's right. We should've moved you in a while ago." Hershel gives in.
"All right, let's move the vehicles near each of the doors facing out toward the road. We'll build a lookout in the windmill, another in the barn loft. That should give us sightlines both sides of the property." Most start to disperse to doing their given tasks.
"Hey, Bree?" Maggie starts making me turn to her "Yeah?" I ask curiously "Think you can help me with the horses?" I nod "I'll be over in a minute" she smiles gratefully before walking away, I turned back around to face Glenn. "I've got everything, I'll set us up in the living room"
He tells me and I smile warmingly to him before pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "I'll be in in a bit" he nods "Stay safe" I roll my eyes playfully "We'll be fine. Just checking on the horses" I walk away from Glenn and follow the pathway to the barn where they kept the horses.
