The Batman

Chapter 9

I was back at the cave holding my mask in my hands. Luke and Tatsu were getting ready to head back up to the manor so they went in the elevator going up to it. I sighed and heard the elevator come back down. "Ah,so having your own cave, and dressing up as a bat is your idea of being something more in life," I heard Alfred say. I smiled weakly at him and got up limping a little. He helped me walk and set me down on my seat. "What happened master Wayne? You look terrible," he said. My shirt was off and showed a big red and purple bruise on my back. I sighed, "I tried to show Gotham that...there's hope..a hero out there, and all I did was let Anarky die." Alfred shook his head at me. "Master Wayne Tatsu told me what happened. Anarky chose to die Matthew. HE let himself die..not you. It was his choice." I shook my head and was about to open my mouth before Alfred cut me off, "no, don't say anything master Wayne. Your main objective was to help the people and save them sir. Is that what you did? Did you save them? Yes, yes you did." I nodded and smiled at Alfred, "thanks Alfred..I don't know what I'd do without you." "You'd probably be getting yourself in more trouble." We smiled and laughed. "Well..come now master Wayne..dinner is ready." He helped me up and we went up to the manor ready to eat dinner.

Gordon's residence
Gordon had just got back from taking everyone back to their homes. He walked in his house and smiled seeing his wife and kids asleep in their living room. He was heading towards his room till he was interrupted by Barbara. "Uh hey dad.." Jim turned around and looked at her, "well..wanna explain?" She looked at her father and shrugged, "I don't know what you're talking about." Jim put his arm around her and sat down with her, "one of my men told me that you started to take charge and lead them to find me and try to save the hostages." She frowned and looked down, "sorry dad.." He shook his head and smiled at her. "Don't be honey..I'm proud of what you did. You took charge and showed that you really are a Gordon.." Hey eyes looked up at him looking happy. She smiled and hugged him for what seemed like hours. They parted and Jim kissed her on the head before heading to his room. Once Gordon was about to walk in his room, Barbara stopped him and asked, "dad..do you REALLY think that we can trust him? The bat.." Jim sighed and looked at her, "I don't know Barbara...but after what he did tonight, I'm sure that we WILL trust him..eventually."

Tatsu, Luke, and I were eating mashed potatoes and a medium rare steak. Honestly, Alfred really should become a chef. Alfred decided to take a nap for awhile as all 3 of us talked. "So, what's next for The Batman?" Tatsu asked. I looked at her, "being Gotham's official hero and savior." Luke nearly choked on a piece of meat once he heard me. "W-Wait so this Batman stuff is permanent? I thought it was temporary!" I heard Luke say. I nodded my head, "well I mean c'mon Luke! I'm meant to do this...i was born to be Batman." He looked at me weirdly, "wh- who even gave you this idea?!" I turned my head at Tatsu's direction and Luke looked at her. "You?! You gave him this idea? Why?!" "I-I just said that he should be something more in life! I didn't know he'd turn out to have a cool ass car and lair and dress up as a bat to kick ass!" I sighed, "guys..honestly this is what I want to be, Batman." They both looked at me confusingly, "You do know what you're doing is dangerous, right?" I nodded and she shook her head, "this isn't a game Matt...you could seriously get hurt..badly. Or...worse." I could hear the worry in her voice. I put my head down, "I'm sorry if I'm worrying you guys but..this is who I need to be. Who I want to be. Who I am.." They nodded and started to get ready to leave.

12:00 AM
Tatsu and Luke had already left, and I was down in my gym working out. I saw a punching bag and hung it up. As i started to punch, I kept getting multiple flashbacks from my encounter with Anarky. "This isn't the last time you've seen ME batman!" I sighed and started to punch harder. The flashback continued over and over as I kept punching and it finally stopped once I had finished punching. I took a moment to catch my breath and started punching again. This time I didn't have any flashback..until i started to think about my parents. Then..I saw my parents get shot. My mom's pearls...new ones that my dad had just bought her. I stopped punching for awhile and sighed looking at the bag. I could just imagine punching the man who killed my parents. Ugh..so many things I could've done to him. I was gonna start punching again until I heard an alert on my phone. It showed an error sign saying, "Gotham City hall break in!!!" I ran out of the room heading down the elevator going to the cave. I walked out of the elevator and started suiting up. Once I was done, I got in the tumbler and headed towards city hall.

Gotham City Hall
I got to the hall and snuck inside from the rooftop. As I got inside, I could hear footsteps and noises throughout the building. In the middle of the room, there was a medium sized necklace with a diamond in the middle, inside a glass case. Once I heard someone coming, I hid in the dark quickly waiting for the person to come.

A security guard came and started to look around the hall with his flashlight. "Hello?!" He asked. The man shrugged and began to walk away before 2 cat-like shadows appeared. "Uh w-who's there?" The security guard asked before a little ball rolled up to him. "What the hell?" He picked it up and suddenly a smoke came out of it. The smoke causes him to fall, and the 2 figures cane out. "Man, that was way too easy" a woman's voice said. "It sure was, it's almost like they WANT us to get the necklace" a man's voice said afterwards. They laughed and started walking towards the necklace before a batarang hit the wall near them. "The hell was that?" The man said. I jumped down and landed in the dark. The woman smirked and said, "oh I know who you are. The famous "Batman" everyone's been talking about. I gotta say, I thought him and I were the only ones in this city who loved black a lot. I guess I was wrong." I stepped out and in front of her, "what do you two want with the necklace?" The man stepped up to me, "we just need the money sir.." The man sounded young, especially after the sentence he just said. I tilted my head looking confused, "okay well that doesn't mean go robbing places just to get something to sell." He sighed, "yeah I guess you're right. But..WE don't care!" My eyes widen and I turn around, seeing the woman had already left...with the necklace. I turned to get the boy but he had already left as well. I shook my head and sighed, "Distracted by a little kid..ugh." I heard footsteps at the top of the roof and looked up, "Must still be here" I used my grappling hook to get up on the roof. I got there and saw the woman running, but no sign of the kid. I ran after her and threw a batarang at her, resulting with an explosion causing her to fall down. She was laying down and was about to get up but I stopped her by pinning her down. "You know...for a new hero I kinda like ya already~" the woman said while smirking. I rolled my eyes at her trying to focus. "What's so important about that necklace?" I asked. She rolled her eyes, "we just need it for some money." I shook my head at her "you're lying." She thought for a second and responded. "Hmm maybe~ but I think you'll be believing me after this~" I saw her lean in on my lips, but instead kneed my crotch. I grunted and felt a shot of pain go through before I saw her turn me over and tie me on the ground. "Aw sweetie~ I wish we could "chat" more but I have somewhere to be." She blew a kiss at me and winked, "but..I do hope we run into each other sometime. Seeya Batsy~" she said while smirking. Soon she disappeared into the night. I struggled and eventually got out of the rope. "Ugh.." I groaned and sighed then got in the tumbler..heading towards home.
