Chapter 10

2 months later
My alarm started going off...LOUD. "Ugh!" I groaned hearing the noise. I was in bed barely even fully awake. "Master Wayne, today's a big day, I suggest you get up now," I heard Alfred say. I opened my eyes a little and saw Alfred holding a dark blue suit with a black tie and dark blue slacks. "Alfred...school's tomorrow NOT today.." I said. He shook his head at me, "No sir, today's your first day running Wayne enterprises." My eyes start to widen, ugh I completely forgot. If I had remembered that today was the day, I would've slept way earlier yesterday. Alfred set the clothes down on my bed and said, "Breakfast is ready..plus your friends Luke and Tatsu are waiting for you downstairs." I nodded and Alfred shut the door closed. I put my clothes on and brushed my teeth. I ran out the door and went downstairs, seeing Tatsu and Luke sitting at the table. "Finally, you're awake!" Tatsu said. Luke was looking at his phone and looked up at me, "finally dude..where the hell have you been?" "I was sleeping sorry guys.." I sat down and began to eat breakfast. Luke leaned closer to me, "so how's the Batman been doing? Any crimes he's finally put a stop to?" I shook my head at him, "just regular robberies..not really that big of a deal." Tatsu looked at me closer, "Well what about the two cats? The Catwoman thief and cat..guy, I don't know his name." I shook my head again at her. "Nope, I thought these past robberies have been her, but I guess I was wrong." She nodded and I looked at my clock, "oh shit! I gotta be heading out guys!" I ate the last bit of my breakfast and ran out of the manor, heading towards Wayne Enterprises.

Wayne Enterprises
I ran inside the building and went towards the meeting. Once I walked in, i saw everyone at the table already. "Ahem, Mr. Wayne..you're late." I heard from across the room. I saw John Dagget sitting down across from me, not looking too happy. "Yeah i kinda..forgot that today was the meeting." John looked at me angrily and a bit annoyed. I ignored him and sat down looking at the board. "So um..whats this meeting about or based on?" "Well it's about some robberies that have been going on..someone has been breaking in and stealing our designs and new upcoming products from here in Wayne Enterprises." He said looking at me while squinting his eyes. "AND...our C.E.O. Mr.Wayne hasn't done anything to stop it or at least TRY to prevent it." I gulped and sighed. Truth is..I HAVE been trying to stop it....just not as Matthew Wayne. I nodded, "you are absolutely right Mr.Dagget..so I will try to stop these robberies and the thieves." "But, if I'm going to do this, i am gonna need a certain someone to help me." Dagget stood up looking as if he was gonna be the person. "Um sorry but not you John, I was talking about a friend of mines." His face looked pissed and disappointed. He sat back down and I called Luke, "hey buddy. Can you come over to Wayne Enterprises tomorrow? Yeah? Alright seeya." The board looked at me weirdly, "that's it for this meeting, I'll see you all tomorrow." I fixed my tie and started walking out. As I walked I could hear all the chattering from the board, but mostly from John Dagget.

Gordon was standing in the freezing cold, waiting on the rooftop. "You needed me commissioner?" I said walking up to him in the suit. He shook his head at me, "How the hell do you always know where I'm at? Ugh anyways, I've been getting complaints and reports about people running around crazy, looking terrified. Probably drugged but who knows, I just need you to check it out." I nodded and started to walk away until he said, "You know..the people of Gotham and the cops keep saying that you're a vigilante...not a hero." I looked back at him, "And you?" I asked Jim. He sighed, "I..I think you're an actual hero. A hero Gotham de-" he doesn't finish his sentence once he notices that I already left. "Deserves.."

I started to listen to any police reports for the people running crazy but I didn't hear anything about that. "We got something at fifty second orchard street!" I heard come on the radio. I put the location on in the tumbler and headed towards the area.

Once I got there I saw people running out of a big house, screaming and yelling in terror. "What the hell.." I saw a guy run and fall down scared. I helped him up and he looked at me weirdly, "O-Oh god! Y-you're hideous!!!" He yelled and started running away. I looked confusingly at him run away, wondering why he said that. I started walking towards the house and headed inside. Once I walked in, everyone had already left the house. I looked around to see if anyone was here, "hello?! Anyone?!" Nobody answered. I continued walking until I started hearing some footsteps near me. I quickly hid in the kitchen, blending in with the dark. I saw a shadow near me and it was close to me. The shadow disappeared and I turned around, seeing nothing. As I continued walking, something came up to me throwing some sort of gas. "Ah! What the-" I looked around trying to look for whoever did that. My vision started to blur as time passed while walking. "That's fear you're beggining to experience Batman.." A voice said near me. I saw a man with a weird straw hat come up to me and kick me in the gut, knocking me down. I grunted and got back up, but slowly and weakly, "Who are you?!" The man laughed at me as he stood in front of me, in the dark. He stepped into the light and I saw a man with a bag mask on, wearing dark brown and familiar clothing. As I looked at him closer, I saw rats and flies coming out of his mask. "Having trouble looking at me, Batman? Am I too terrifying to look at?" He chuckled creepily, "Everyone is scared of something dear hero..." I started to groan and stumble across the floor and soon everything went quiet..plus the creatures stopped coming out of the mask. "And you Batman..are certainly afraid of something.." As soon as he said that, I saw thousands of bats flying around everywhere and flying towards me. The man started to laugh and I grunted trying to reach towards him. He kicked my face and I fell down, feeling incredibly weak. "I look forward to our next encounter next time Batman.." I heard him say. I continued to feel the effects of the gas and once it was done, the man with the mask had already left. I sighed and got up weakly, "Damn it.."

Gordon's residence
Jim was outside looking at the city of Gotham after dinner. He sighed and drinked a bottle of beer. As he stood there, Barbara walked up next to him, "You okay,dad?" she asked. Jim nodded at her and sighed, "I'm just still...scared after what happened with Anarky.." He looked at her, sadness in his eyes. "So many things could've happened to me..or even you. I could've never been able to see my family again.." He sighed and Barbara hugged him tightly. "I was scared too dad.." They hugged for awhile until Jim had to go back inside.  Barbara decided to stay outside for awhile and enjoy the winter cold. As she stood outside, a shadowy figure was near her. She caught the figure and started walking around, looking for it. "Hello? Anyone out here?" Barbara asked as she walked. She stopped once she heard a footsteps right behind her. She turned around, and suddenly someone grabbed her. The area was soon empty once the person and Barbara were gone...and Barbara's screams for help echoed throughout the night.
