Can we just talk about how amazing he is? He just so happens to portray one of my favorite depictions of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince but that's not all, he is in a seriously overlooked band called Tinker Wright. Is it weird I can't completely rid him of his dark, brooding, powerful past role of The Tom Riddle. But as a person in general he is just a down to earth guy. It's no secret that I love the darker characters in the wonderful world of Harry Potter but it's more than that. As an acting student I know the work that is put into trying to successfully portray a character under the right circumstances and holy cheese balls. It's a lot of work. You need to seriously focus on the context of the conversations you are in and the way the scenes flow together, it's truly like magic if done correctly.

Dillane played a young Riddle but so did Christian Coulson. Why is there such a contrast in my feelings towards both depictions? It's probably how both actors were able to bring the young Riddle from the books to life. They were so different. Coulson was frantic in a few ways, like when he was trying to rid the world of Harry. How reckless he was when controlling the basilisk, who the hell underestimates their enemy?! That's like the number one rule, NEVER UNDERESTIMATE YOUR ENEMY. Just don't, I mean come on honey, I adore you but that was a poor choice on your part.

Dillane was cold and calculating. He observed the situation. HE PAID ATTENTION! Merlin's beard, come on. Hold on I need to take a deep breath and calm down... Okay sorry for ranting a little but anyway Dillane seemed to ooze the confidence that the future dark lord had, he was intimidating in the books and movie. If looks could kill that smirk would have already eradicated the "mudbloods" who resided in Hogwarts. Oh my Jesus, I'm sorry but he is exactly how I imagined Riddle to be. If my little eight year old self knew that there would be a man who looked like the Riddle she imagined I can say I would have begged my family to move to the UK so I had the chance of meeting him while I was still young and adorable. Now I'm just tall-ish and average looking for someone with dark burgundy hair and porcelain white skin. I look like I belong in the Addams family instead of this hoard of boisterous, carefree called the "Williams-Dyer" with their beautiful olive skin, natural jet black hair, and black or brown eyes. I relate to Riddle feeling alone because I stand out from my own family. I don't look like I belong with my natural auburn/ginger hair, porcelain white skin, blue grey eyes that change green, and my height. He had no one and so did I. Dillane portrayed a boy who was changed by the harsh reality of the world and it seemed accurate. It seemed real. In the setting where you feel so out of place you will be quiet. People make fun of you for looking or even being different and that can make you cruel, cold, cynical, and become completely guarded. He showed how manipulative and charming you can be to fool so many. That is also an accurate portrayal in my experiences, after never having what the other children had it can change a person. Being ridiculed by the same children for all your life in the beginning can make one become manipulative, can make one lean more towards charming others to get their way. We manipulate others to get what we want. Do you realize that? Girls wear makeup, dress in scandalous clothes, act certain ways knowing that they can trick a man to go home with them. Same with men. We live in a world where it's normal to persuade and curve the conversations to get what we desire.

In a world where things can never be perfect and happy-go-lucky Frank Dillane is pretty damn close.
