My heart was beating like crazy when I got up from my bed and rushed downstairs past my mother who had passed out on the couch.
I braced myself for what was waiting for me on the other side. Avani stood there with tears in her eyes, and he hands rolled into fists.

"Avani? Please, calm down, we can talk," i said concerned, i had never seen her like this.
She pushed past me and walked through the front door and then stomped all the way up the stairs to my room. I followed behind her and, and then shut my bedroom door once I reached my room. I sat beside her on my bed, waiting for her to speak.

"You knew," she finally let out, " you knew, Payton loved you?"

i said nothing.

"Of course you did, cause it's always about you kenzie isn't it?" Avani said through gritted teeth.
"Well, want to know another thing," she asked.

I don't think it mattered what i said, she was
planning on telling me no matter what.
I started at her with a blank expression.

"Seeing you and Chase together made Payton realize he still loves you. He never got over you." Avani's voice broke as she said that last sentence.

I didn't know what to say.
finally i croaked our the words, "I'm sorry"

Avani looked at me her eyes cloudy from the
tears she so desperately tried to hold back.
I could tell she wanted to curse me out or slap me across the face, and even though it wasn't my fault, i would have let her. However she didn't. She simply sat there and looked into my eyes for a moment, then the tears came rushing out, and she collapsed into my arms. I held onto her tightly as she sobbed deeply into my chest.
After a couple of minutes Avani finally released herself from my hold and sat up.

"We broke up, and the worst part is even though i know he loves you, i still want to be with him." Avani admitted, "He told me he loved me more, but it doesn't change the fact that a part of him loves you."

"Avani, you know i love you, and i'm sorry this is happening, but if Payton does love you and you love him, why not try to fix things?" I asked

"Because, look at you kenzie, I simply can't compete." Avani sighed

I started at Avani. Had this girl gone absolutely mad? She was drop dead gorgeous. So i told her exactly that.
We stayed up in my room talking late through the night until Avani eventually fell asleep beside me.
Once i was sure she was asleep i grabbed my phone and texted Payton.

i told her the truth. Kenz i'm sorry but i couldn't hold it in anymore, i still have feelings for you.

payton, i'm sorry but i could never do that to Avani or Chase. I love both of them with all my heart. i love you too pay, but not in the same way.

yeah, ik. I'm happy you don't feel the same tho cause maybe i can finally move on for Avani. I want to be with Avani.

well then if you really love Avani you need to figure some stuff out, and try talking to her or something. She's a mess
