Present…
It was like looking in a mirror. Her eyes, nose mouth, everything was exactly alike. She was still staring at the picture when she realized another presence.
‘Erika-chan…?’
It was Hiro. He stood by the door with a surprised look but turned pale as he followed Erika’s gaze back to the picture.
The nurse had just finished telling Erika about Yui’s suicide when Hiro had entered the room.
‘Do you…’ Erika felt her chest tightened. ‘Do you love me…because I look like her?’
Not waiting for the answer, she rushed out of the room, passing Hiro without even a glance.
‘Erika-chan!’ Hiro tried to ran after her but she was already out of sight.
Erika ran through the corridors of the hospital causing people to stare at her. She ran ignoring the tears that were beginning to blur her vision. She simply ran, ran until she could run no more.
‘Erika-chan?’
Erika turned expecting to see Hiro. Instead she was met with a worried-looking Shun.
‘Daijobu?’
Up till then, Erika had cried so hard that she thought she had no more tears left in her. However, finding consolation in Shun’s appearance, she broke down into tears. As soon as she did, she felt Shun wrap his protective arms over her.
In the distance, a pair of jealous eyes watched the scene unfold.
Why? Why do you choose her, Shun-kun?

A week later…
‘I’m home!’ Erika shouted as she entered the house.
‘Okaa-san? Sayu?’ She searched the rooms but found no signs of life. Certain she was alone, she went to the kitchen to sort out the mail she’d picked up.
Electric bills. Water bills. Community newsletter. Hospital letter. Tuition bills.
Wait a minute…a letter from the hospital?
Curiously, she tore open the envelope addressed to her.
To Miss Erika Toda,
This is regarding your previous visitation a couple days ago. The results of your tests are back. It seems that accident you were in 2 weeks ago had damaged your retina. It is possible you may lose your sight. We need you to come to the hospital for further testing.

The kitchen became silent except for the sound of papers shuffling unto the floor.
