everyone seemed to love this a lot so i present to you the next part of the walnut-roguefort saga!

***

Walnut couldn't believe she was waiting in line with a bunch of immature children to see an exhibit she could have checked out at any time. How did Phantom Bleu manage to convince her anyway?

She knew she did it for the crime-solving rush, but Walnut hated to admit there was something inside the thief that she trusted.

Stop it! Walnut shook her head. He might be a gentleman but he's still a thief! You can't show mercy on anybody breaking the law!

She tried to convince herself that she was only doing this because it was her job and it had nothing to do with Phantom Bleu. Walnut had to stay focused.

"Name and age, please," a male Cookie wearing a uniform asked.

"Walnut!" the child detective responded. "Eleven!"

"Come right through here," the employee gestured and Walnut slipped through the entrance.

Upon entering the room, she scanned her surroundings. Bleu had informed her that she would need to go through a room in the far left corner, and as soon as Walnut found it, she checked to see that no one was watching and slipped through.

Beyond the door lay a long hallway with dozens of doors residing on each side. The hallway was dimly lit and had a couple dusty boxes and near-empty bookshelves at the side of it.

Carefully pulling out her flashlight, Walnut shone the beam of light across the passage and read the signs beside the doors.

"Storage room, boiler room, control room," she muttered, reading off the signs. "Didn't Bleu tell me to spy on the meeting room?"

Finally, Walnut found the sign that read "Meeting Room" with soft voices coming through. She was about to lean in closer and listen until she heard, "I need to go get some water. I'll be right back."

The footsteps approached and in a panic, Walnut dove into a pile of boxes beside her. Right that instant, the door opened and the Cookie walked down the hallway. The dust made her want to sneeze, but she didn't dare make a sound.

Conveniently, he had left the door open, meaning Walnut could listen in easier. She scooted the boxes closer to the door and eavesdropped as she pulled out her special voice-recording pen.

"About the coins," an assertive voice rung out. "Where is a safe place to stash them?"

"We could always hide it inside of the safe," another one suggested. "They'll never find it that way."

Is this an embezzlement? Stolen money? I have to know! Walnut thought excitedly. The recorder inside of her pen whirred on, capturing every voice.

"But what if they find out that the gems we sold were fake?" a female voice asked.

"Trust me, they won't," the first voice answered. "Those fools are too blind to realize that the ones we sold to them are nothing but exact replicas."

At that moment, the Cookie retrieving a glass of water stepped back into the room and shut the door tight, causing the voices to become muffled again.

Crud! Walnut thought with frustration. I can't get any solid evidence this way!

She tried to remember what she had seen inside the room from the quick glance she had. There was a large table, a potted plant... and a set of sliding doors covered with curtains. Bingo.
