"Let's make a new one baby, what do you say?" was the first thing Toby Cavanaugh heard when he stepped through the front door of his home. It was his wife singing to his daughter in the kitchen

"Yes Mama!" His daughter yelled back in excitement.

"What's the next line sweetie?" He heard Spencer ask as he walked closer to the kitchen.

He heard a giggle and a high pitched voice sing back "I love you when you let me pick out the name."

His smile spread and he walked through the doorway and leaned against it. He was pretty sure he was never going to get over how lucky he was to have his girls.

He watched as Spencer poured the ingredients into the bowl and sang the names as she did.

"Sugar"

"And Butter"

"And Flour"

"Come on honey, you know the next line." said Spencer, prompting her daughter.

"And mother" sang back their baby girl, looking up at her mom with adoration.

"I think today we'll start with Strawberry Cream." Sang Spencer, picking up her 3 year old and putting her on the counter.

"I'm calling this one Lulu's Strawberry Dream." She sang softly.

"That's my name momma!" Giggled the toddler.

"Sure is baby! My little Lulu, the love of my life." She said, gently tapping her daughter on the nose and smiling to herself when her finger left a little patch of flour on the tip.

Lulu's gaze shifted from Spencer to over her shoulder and her ocean blue eyes connected with her fathers.

"Daddy!" She yelled and Spencer helped her get down and let her run to her father.

"Hey little missy! I missed you." Toby said as he picked up his daughter and cuddled her close.

"I missed you daddy, Momma and me are baking you a pie, it's your most favourist one!" Lulu said, her arms still wrapped around her dad's neck.
Toby giggled at her typical 3-year-old way of talking and walked over to the counter next to the bowl of ingredients and where Spencer was still standing, smiling fondly at her whole world.

"Hi beautiful." Toby said as he walked over to her and leaned down to kiss her. Spencer kissed him and hugged him the best that she could while he was carrying a toddler.

"Hey pretty eyes, how was work?" she asked.

Toby set Lulu down and let her run off, now she was bored with the conversation.

"Alright. I missed you." He said, shrugging.

He bent down. "And I missed you too little one." He said, talking to Spencer's 5 month pregnant belly.

Spencer laughed "I'm just hoping that he or she loves helping to make pies as much as Lulu."

"With how good your pies are it could be criminal for them not to." Toby replied, pulling her in for another hug.

"You know that's what attracted me to you in the first place?"

Spencer scoffed, "That I can make pie?" She said.

"No!" said Toby, laughing. "The fact you always smelt like pies baking in the oven. I wanted to see if you were as sweet as you smelt." He explained

"And what were your findings?" asked his wife.

"That you are." he responded. "When you want to be anyway." He said, quickly dodging out the way of the flour she had just flicked at him.

This went on for a couple of minutes and by the end both adults had a light dusting of flour in their hair and on their faces and clothes.

"I love you so much." Toby said pulling her into his chest and breathing in the smell of her hair which was mixed with the incredible strawberry smell coming from the oven.

"I love you too. And you know what that means?"

Toby laughed. "Yep, I love you means you're never ever ever getting rid of me." He replied.

"Exactly." Said Spencer.

And they were right. No matter what life would throw at them they were going to do it forever. That's just what baking can do.
