I decided to switch POV's
Kolt's POV.
I looked at my king in front of me, looking determined to set things right in Evergreen, it made me proud that he would do such a thing, without knowing half the 'problems' here. to think he was a small terrified little person and now he is determined to set thing right.
I smiled when i saw him blush, he looked adorable, but I lost that smile when i realized that i liked him too much and that he is our king, so he will most likely take a mate when he decides what supernatural animal he wants to be, a female at that..
"so,,, when do you want to go greet the elders?" I asked and saw him pale at the very thought. I chuckled a bit and saw him shoot a glare at me.
"uuhhmm. I don't know. I think i must first talk to everyone out there-'' he pointed to the people in the valley, and trembled a bit ''-and learn their problems, so that I can go to the elders and speak with them about everyone's problems and allow them a peaceful retirement while I become kkkiiinnggg." he said and I nodded.
"so you want to meet the others now.?" I asked smiling a bit. he swallowed and nodded, but i could see it was an effort for him not to go crawling into a corner and shut everything else out.
"then let's go." I said and walked to the door, opened it and stepped outside, waiting for him. as he stepped outside I saw the sunlight hit him full on. making his brown hair, shimmer with red and golden highlights. his face seemed to glow and as he took a deep breathe his eyelids closed and when they opened again I saw his eyes had flecks of black in, making them seem mysterious.
he looked around and i think he searched for a path down, but when he saw none he looked at me questioningly.
"you know what I said about flying to get down..." I said and saw him shake and take a couple of dwwp breathes, he paled but nodded for me to go ahead and shift.
so I shifted and heard him gasp. my senses became stronger, hearing more, seeing better, smelling everything. I felt my arms become wings, my mouth becoming a beak, my legs become thin and my feet become claws, my ears disappearing (but still I hear) my chest puffing up in pride, my eyes becoming white, but the best part was that I had a blazing fire coating my feathers. I felt the power of the phoenix flow through my veins, I was at least two feet long, I was a huge bird. I expanded my wings and felt the wind flying through my feather, it was exhilarating to say the least.
I looked back at Aron and saw him gaping at me, eyes wide, hands clutched to his sides, shaking. but to my surprise he didn't bolt through the door and shut it behind him screaming for dear life. instead he came towards me, slowly but surely.
in a few steps he was in front of me, my eyes never leaving him. he reached out at me and i could see him want to touch me but was afraid to do so. so I lowered myself and bowed in front of him lowering my head.
I felt his hand stroking my head and the feeling was so soft, a caress, that i leaned into it and let out a breath closing my eyes.
"you're beautiful." he said softly, like he didn't want me to hear.
'thank you' I thought and i heard him gasp again, I looked at him in confusion.
"did you just say something.?" he asked. I shook my head.
'no, why would he ask me something like that?" I thought and heard him gasp again.
"because I can hear your thoughts." he said and I froze, shocked.
'he's not even a supernatural creature and he can hear my thought, he's a human and i just shifted, how on earth or non earth does he do that? is it because he is the king that he can hear my thoughts, and if so, what does it mean?'
"it means that I can hear your thoughts." he said and I shook my head.
'how?'
"I don't know, I just wanted to know what you were thinking so that I know what to do, and then when i said you're bbeeaautifful, I didn't expect you to reply with a thank you." he said and i nodded.
'so that means if you want to you can hear any one's thought if you want to. so do you want to go see the other people or just stand here talking to me'
"leetssss goo meet the otheerrss." he said and I nodded again.
'okay, you need to climb on my back when I bend down, but be careful not to bend or tear any of my feathers coz it is painful, then as i stand up softly wrap your arms and legs around me so you don't fall off. got it?'
"I think so, so basically, I must hang on for dear life, don't hurt you and sit on your neck. peachy." he said and i rolled my eyes but no one would ever know for I don't have a pupil, mine is the same colour as the rest of my eye, and gave a mental chuckle.
"don't laugh at me, it is my way of dealing with scary things."
'so now I'm scary.'
"no, yes, maybe." he mumbled.
'just climb on.'
'wait, look at me quickly." he said and I did, I leaned down and looked him straight in the eye.
"I don't know why the elders say there is something wrong with your eyes I think they are pretty awesome." he said and blushed again.
'no one has ever said my eyes are awesome before.' I thought. I took pride the fact that the king said my eyes are awesome.
"im not king yet."
"so you accept that fact that you are?'
"no, but I'm getting there." he said with a small smile.
"one more question? your surrounded by fire, how do I climb on without burning." he asked.
'the same way you stroked my feathers, I can make the fire do harm or no harm at all.'
I leaned down, and told him to climb on so that we can go and meet the others and he did, he got on gently and took a spot on my neck, moving slightly, and when i started straightening again, he squeaked and quickly wrapped his arms and legs around my neck, since it was the only way to stay put. I walked to the end of the mountain, my talons on the edge, my wings expanding.
'are you ready?' I asked him.
"yes!' he squeaked.
with that I shot up into the sky like a rocket and flew...
