The moonlight bounced throughout the dim-lit room, casting shadows all around. A man stood before me, reflecting the specular of the monocle.
"I've been waiting, welcome to the royal palace," the man said with an open arm.
"I'm very honored," Seo-jun bowed my head and knelt down.
"Please raise your head," the man said with an apologetic tone.
Seo-jun looked up, but not letting his guard down.
"Oh, I know what you're thinking," he said while slowly walked to the other side of the room, pulling a random book out of a bookshelf. "Why have I summoned you? Am I watching you? If not what is the problem?"
He shoved the book right back in its place and fixed his face onto Seo-jun.
"But you must answer my question. My answer to those questions may change depending on your answer."
Seo-jun stared directly into his eyes, trying to read his intentions.
I can't read his face at all. Just what is this man...
"Where are you from?"
Whether to risk lying, or to tell the truth. Unable to decide, he ended up spitting out a lie.
"I'm from the city of Eman."
Shit... I've done it now.
"Why do you adventure?"
"I became an adventurer in search of a source of income."
What are these questions...?
A shift of atmosphere. The flow of air froze as if the time itself has stopped.
"Do you have a companion?"
Silence resonated around the room.
"I do."
"Who is it?"
The atmosphere got heavier every time a word left his mouth.
"A talented magic-user named Ellie."
"Ok, let's start over. You must tell me the Truth."
What... There's no way...
"Where are you from?"
"I'm from the city of Eman."
"Why do you adventure?"
"I adventure to get a source of income."
A slight pause, lifting up his monocle.
"Do you have a companion."
"I do."
"Who is it?"
"I can not answer."
"Understood. Then here's my answer to the question. I have a magic spell called farsight. It grants me a vision of places far away. And I assume you get what that means."
Shit that means-
"Meaning, I know of your lies."
This guy... was playing with me...
"Such a shame. I was giving you a chance, but now you've lost my trust."
What do you mean!? We just met each other?
"Then why have you summoned me?"
"Eri Évreux."
"..."
Shit. Busted.
The nervous sweat rolled down my cheek as the intensity reached its climax.
"I thought of a better idea, let's see what you're able to do."
"What do you mean?"
He snapped his finger and called the guards.
"Restrain him."
Oh fuck...
The guards wasted no time. Even with all his strength, he wasn't able to deal with multiple guards oppressing him.
"What's the meaning of this!?"
Immediately, another set of guards barged into the room.
"Sir Léon! We've found the third daughter of Évreux and secure her!"
"Good work."
"You son of a bitch! You set me UP!"
Though his anger roared with fury, he first sought out to get out of the palace.
時間加速! (Jikan Kasoku) Time Acceleration!
He freed himself from the guards with ease and ran to the door. The moment his foot stepped across the door, a series of electric chains reached out to Seo-jun and struck him down.
Paralyzed, he helplessly laid on the ground, frozen.
"I know your tricks. It's not going to work with me."
His conscious was held by a thin yarn, in the brink of snapping.
"Now show me what you can do..."
The voice faded away as Seo-jun lost his conscious.
"Take him away. He's the man who kidnapped the third daughter of Évreux family. Drag him out to the central coliseum. He'll be tried for execution today."
"Right away."
A set of guards dragged Seo-jun away.
Léon let out a burst of malicious laughter.
The stage is Coliseum. Now dance for me Seo-jun, show me what you can do...
