Growing Up

You take wrong turns down disconnected paths
Not knowing where to go or how to read the maps
Sometimes you stumble over your own two feet
Struggling to push yourself up, just to fall back to your knees

It put you in this world, observed you as you suffered
It gave you family, friends, and even a lover
A soul promise that it would all be okay
A dull reminder of who you are everyday

Heaven is a Hellish hope, ruled by a cruel Lord
Hell is a Holy fear, you've already passed through before
God is a hopeless comfort, calming your fear of death
Satan is a horrible truth, the secret you'll never confess

Once you accept society's truths and their lies
Your words and thoughts will come out more wise
After you see all of the worlds pain and chaos
Your heart will finally understand the true meaning of loss

Growing up may hurt you a lot
But you've already come way too far to stop
You'll always have the permanent choice to leave
But I know you will stay, for the ones that you need
