The Key of Fate

You and Howard were in the gym, waiting for Randy to come back from wherever he was. You look around as Howard grew impatient. Then, finally, Randy ran into the gym and stop in front of you both. "There you are!" You say.

"Sorry, I'm late...!" Randy said. "I was, uh... studying. For geometry."

You look at him curiously, then notice a piece of metal behind his back. "Mm-hm," you say, crossing your arms while Howard grabbed the scrap. He pulled it out to show it was a detached robo hand.

"And I suppose you were "watching" "the Ninja" destroy a Robo-Ape to find the area of an isosceles triangle?" He asked.

Randy's face lit up. "Yes! Isosceles triangle! That is exactly correct."

"There's no such thing as an isosceles triangle!" Howard yelled. "I just made that up!"

"Uh," you interrupt, "there actually is--"

"Admit it! You lied! You were off watching the Ninja without us! And I bet you were going gaga over Kunoichi, too!"

You got a bit nervous at this point, but luckily Randy cut in. "I didn't lie," he said, "It's just Ninjas work alone, - which bothers you. So I lied...."

"If Ninja works alone," you say, "then what's the Kunoichi for?"

"Oh, ummm...."

Before he finished, you heard a click sound near the ground. You look down to see Howard and Randy's ankles tied together with little rings and the Gym teacher kneeling in front of them. "The chin-waggers at the school board insist I conduct a Safety Seminar!" He said. "But I believe in learn-by-doing. So I present: The Three-Legged Safety Search!"

You look around to see everybody was paired up with someone. Everyone except you.

"Uh, sir?" You ask, shyly raising your hand a little. "What about me?"

"Ah, Miss (L/n). You can just tag along with whomever you decide."

Sweet!

"See what happens when you leave us hanging?" Howard said, scolding Randy. "(Y/n)'s not paired with anyone, and I could've been zip-tied to Flute Girl!"

You look over to see Flute Girl tied to the trombone player Stevens, and loving it. Stevens gave her a pin, which she freaked out about. She claims to be "his girl" now. That almost reminded you of Christmas, when the Ninja gave you your pin. What did that mean...?

"The school has 23 danger zones, all off-limits," the teacher continues. "Access them, photograph yourselves, and return unscathed."

You seemed a bit nervous. As Kuni, this would be a walk in the park for you, but you're not her. Not now, anyway.

"Howard, you know you and (Y/n) can count on me," Randy reassured Howard.

"Except when we can't count on you!"

"Howard, take it easy...!" You say, trying to defend Randy.

"The team with the most snappies chooses... tomorrow's gym activity!" The teacher held his left hand, which had "Call Mum" on it.

"I'm gonna win!" Bash remarked, confidently. "I'm gonna make all yous do something painful! Your butts aren't gonna like it!"

Everybody gulped, not wanting to endure Bash's choice.

"OK, Cunningham," Howard said, "you want to prove we can count on you? Then let's win this thing. We'll be heroes to every butt in class!" He then squishes Randy's face. "I need to know you're with us, no matter what."
