Hey guys. So I've been in the city for about two weeks now and in that time I've applied to 4 different places that I could work at. I've gotten pretty used to the car horns since they are pretty much my alarm now. But you know what's also coming up? Classes. We start college in three weeks and orientation is in two weeks . That definitely is the wake up call to realize that I'm an adult now. An adult that only has 75 dollars to her name. I hope I can get an email back soon because when it comes to dues in college they don't play. Maybe I can become friends with some of the people that went on the bus tour with us. But anyways it's time to start the day.
I slipped into a tank top and gym shorts and got ready to go get breakfast. I stopped by Sabrina's door so that we could go down together this morning. I knocked at her door and footsteps immediately followed. "I'm coming Jade.", she said. She opened up her door a few minutes later and we started walking to the elevator. "So any updates on your job?", she asked. "I applied to 4 places and I did read somewhere that they can take up to two weeks to answer so I still have a bit of hope.", I said. "Yep they better respond to you this week because you know school starts in three weeks.", she said.
Once we got down to the lobby I waved hello to Alissa who was down there at the time and me and Sabrina walked towards the breakfast area. It was around 8 and it was one of the best hours to get breakfast because that's when it's hot and steamy. We grabbed ourselves some plates and went on the separate sides to get our food. I filled my plate up with a biscuit, bacon, eggs, and cheese with a glass of orange juice. Sabrina filled her plate up with a muffin, a yogurt, and a cup of tea. As I was heading to the table i heard a notification sound from my phone but decided that I'll look at at once I sat down.
The both of us made it to the table and I immediately checked the notification. "OMG finally!", I said in excitement. "Wait what happened?", Sabrina said. "I got a response from the Queens center. They looked at my application and they want me to come for an interview around one." "Finally. It's about time someone answered you.",she said. Well I can't be grinning for too long I have food to eat and an interview to go get ready for. We ate our food and made some small talk for the next few minutes and then made our way back to the elevator.
Once we had gotten back to our floor we started a new conversation. "So what are you gonna do today?", I asked. "Well I'm definitely not going for a job interview right now. Probably once my money runs out I'll get one. But I think I'll get my adventure on and explore the hotel. Can you believe we've been here for two weeks and we haven't explored this place.", she said. "That is true though. I've spent these last few weeks waiting on a response and even though I went to every floor, I didn't see the perks of this place yet. I'll find some time next week I guess.", I replied. "So do you know what you're gonna wear? First impressions are everything you know, especially when it comes to a job.", Sabrina continued. "I'll probably wear something that's business casual, simple but classy. Wait, how do you know all this? I thought you said you didn't have a job.", I said. "I don't, I just watched a lot of teen sitcoms and movies.", she said as we burst out laughing. We waved goodbye at our doors and went back to our separate rooms.
OK so I have two options: use some of the little money I have to get a ride and an actual business casual outfit, or make us of what looks the most business casual in my suitcase. It makes the most sense if I check my suitcase first. I walked to the closet where I kept my suitcase and lifted it up to my bed. So let's see, I have some tank tops, t-shirts, shorts, mid-length pants, and one skirt. Really, I only have summer wear. And the skirt looks like something I would wear to a beach or a party. It was floral and it had a slit down the back. "Ugh I can't go dressed like this, I need to go shopping.", I said in frustration. It's only nine right now. I still have about three and a half hours until I need to go there. But I can't take an Uber now or I'll have less money before I actually need to go to the interview.
