"Alice, it's time to wake up."
My dad's deep voice was soft, easing me out of sleep while gently shaking me. My eyes blinked open, gradually taking in my surroundings. The only light in my room, was that of the sunrise reflecting off the water.
"Elizabeth Chandler's here to work with you."
At the mention of the Avengers ability specialist, I sat up slowly while rubbing the sleep from my eyes. My dad stepped away from the bed, giving me a little space. When I turned to look at him, I realized he was dressed in casual pants with a long sleeve black shirt.
Slowly, I reached for my phone from the nightstand. Instantly, the light was blinding though I adjusted slowly. When I could see the screen enough, I realized it was 6:32.
"Why is she here so early?" My voice like the rest of me was slow, and groggy.
"It was just the best time for her, we set the plans last night after you went to bed otherwise I would have told you."
I threw the covers off, the cool air hitting me instantly. I was seized by the desire to curl back up under the warm covers, but I fought the desire and got up anyways.
Once I was up, my dad turned and headed back for the door. "She's in the training area getting set up, try and be ready in 10 minutes."
I hastily threw myself together. I didn't do much more than brush my teeth, and pull my hair back into a ponytail. Then making my way to the closet, I threw on a pair of black leggings with a strip of purple designs down the sides and a black Stark Industries tee shirt. Once I had shoes on and everything, I made my way across the facility to the training area.
By the time I made it to the training area, I was much more awake. I entered the training area and found a woman in a white lab coat, sitting on the bench and trying to organize about 100 cords and adhesive pads. When the door closed behind me, she turned around.
Her light blonde hair fell in natural beachy waves, layered down to her waist and darker at the roots. Her facial features were soft, and it was evident by her elegant curves that she works out quite a bit and might have been a dancer at some point.
"Hello, you must be Alice." She introduced warmly, offering a hand as she walked towards me. As she introduced herself, I was slightly surprised to find that she has a british accent.
"I am, are you Miss Chandler?" I asked, not quite sure what to call her.
"Dr, actually." She corrected. I stood there awkwardly for a moment, then a playful smile came to her face and she laughed lightly. "Call me Elizabeth, Dr Chandler is a bit formal."
"Alright, Elizabeth." I corrected, laughing along with her.
I realized she couldn't be older than 20, and probably isn't use to being called her last name. Meeting her confused me because for some reason, I expected the Avengers specialist to be harsh. Instead, she's very kind and almost timid. Once we had introduced ourselves, Elizabeth turned back to her cords and I walked around so I could see them better.
"If it's alright with you, I'm going to begin hooking you up to all of these to monitor your brain activity while you use your abilities." She explained. When I realized she was looking for consent to start, I agreed. I stood in front of her, and she got to work.
It took nearly 20 minutes just to put on all the adhesive pads and connect them. All of the wires traced back to a small gray box that Elizabeth clipped into the back of my leggings. I had adhesive pads all over my body, but the most annoying ones were on my face and neck.
I continued to stand there even once she stopped, and waited for instructions while she worked on her computer. Once she finished, she set it down on the now empty bench and sood up.
