10. Wizard's Chess

The next morning after final exams we walked back. Hermione said "I'd heard Hogwarts' final exams were frightfull, but I found that enyojable." Ron said "Speak for yourself. All right there, Harry?" "My scar. It keeps burning." Hermione said "It's happened before." He said "Not like this." I said "You should see the nurse." Harry said "I think it's a warning. It means danger's coming." We saw Hagrid sitting by his hut. Harry said "Of course!" I asked "What is it?" Harry made his way.to Hagrid and said "Isn't it odd that what Hagrid wants more than anything is a dragon...and a stranger happens to have one? I mean, how many people wander around with dragon eggs? Why didn't I see it before." Harry started running. We followed.

Harry asked Hagrid "Who gave you the egg? What did he look like?" He said "I never saw his face. He kept his hood up." Harry continued "You and this stranger must have talked." Hagrid said "He wanted to know what sort of creatures I looked after. I said, "After Fluffy, a dragon's gonna be no problem."" Harry asked "Was he interested in Fluffy?" "Of course he was interested. How often do you come across a three-headed dog? But I told him, "The trick with any beast is to know how to calm him." Take Fluffy, for example. Play him music and he falls straight to sleep. Harry, Ron and Hermione looked at each other. They knew now how to get past Fluffy. I should have told them that. We wouldn't have wasted so much time. " Hagrid said "I shouldn't have told you that." We ran away. He said "Where are you going?"

We ran to Professor Mcgonnagal. Hermione said "We have to see Dumbledore. Immediately! She said "I'm afraid he's not here. He recieved an urgent owl from the Ministery of Magic and left." Harry said "He's gone? But this is important! This is about the Philosophers stone! Mcgonnagak said "How do you know--?" Harry said "Someone's going to try and steal it. She said "I don't know how you know, but I assure you it is well protected. Now would you go to your dormitories? Quietly." We sighed and turned around.

When we were out Harry said "That was no stranger Hagrid met. It was Snape. Which means he knows how to get past Fluffy." Hermione said "And with Dumbledore gone--. Snape was standing behind us and said "Good afternoon. What would 4 young Gryffindors...be doing inside on a day like this?" Hermione tried to say something but Snape only said "You ought to be careful. People will think you're...up to something" He looked at Harry and then turned around. Hermione asked "Now what do we do?" Harry said "We go down the trap door. Tonight."

At night we all walked down the stairs to the Gryffindor common room. We saw trevor, the toad from Neville sitting on a arm chair. Ron whispered "Trevor, go! You shouldn't be here!" Neville sat in the chair he turned around and he said "Neither should you." He stood up and came standing for us. He continued "You're sneaking out again, aren't you?" Harry said "No Neville listen. We were--" "No I won't let you! You'll get Gryffindor into trouble again. I'll fight you." Hermione took her wand and said "Neville, I'm really sorry about this. Petrificus Totalus." He stood imediately still. He couldn't move anymore. He fell on the ground. Ron said "You're a little scary sometimes, you know that? Brilliant, but scary." Harry said "Let's go." We walked past Neville. Hermione said sorry to Neville and Ron said "It's for your own good, you know. We were on our way to Fluffy. We were all under the invisibility cloak from Harry. They explained me where we were going. I said "Guys, I need to tell something." They all asked what. "I have been here before like you. I know the way because I followed you when Hermione showed Harry that his father was also a seeker. I also followed you to the third-floor. I hid behind a wall until Filch was gone. I heard Fluffy behind the door." Ron interuppted "So, youre saying you knew as much as we did then?" "No I wasn't finished yet. After you ran away from Fluffy, I waited. I waited until the noises were gone. Then I used Alohomara to get in." Harry said "And you saw Fluffy right and he attacked you?" "Yes and no, I saw Fluffy yes and he saw me. But he didn't attack me. I carefully went to one of his heads and then I setted some music on. He stayed calm and relaxed. I was even allowed to stroke his head multiple times. If I wanted to I could probably have opened the trap door." Hermione said "Why didn't you tell one of us?" "I wanted too but I didn't know how. I mean what friend follows them to see what they are going to do. At least I know I could have told you how to calm Fluffy down. Sorry guys" Ron accidently stood on Hermione's foot. He appologised to her. Harry said "It's okay Clary. I understand that you had an issue with telling us. From now on will you tell us when something is bothering you?" "Yeah that's okay."
