Chapter Two ~ The First Day In Zion Academy

Maxine

I woke up 8 ‘clock in the morning, very late for the first day of school. As usual. I turned on my playlist to improve the mood of the morning. Upon checking my phone I saw two messages the first one was from dad.

Dad: Hey honey. :) Have a pleasant morning! Good luck on your first day of school. Love you.

Me: K.

I know you think I’m rude but that is who I am. Since mom’s death my dad had done all he can to make me move on from the tragic incident. I wanted to move on, I really do, but I just can’t. It’s very hard to lose a loved one from you especially if it is your mom. Trust me guys, it isn’t easy. The second text message was from Patrick.

Patrick <3: Anne, where art thou? Haha. Too cheesy? Anyways, you’re late. The opening program will commence in 20 minutes. I will just save you a seat. Hurry up, darling. Love you! :)

Me: Hey baby. Sorry to keep you waiting. I just woke up. Thanks for the seat in advance! Be there in 15 minutes. Love you too! :)

I don’t receive many text messages from other students in school because I am not that friendly. The only student I hang with is Patrick. He’s the only one who understands how I feel and why I act like this. Most of the girls in school hate me for being the girlfriend of Patrick. They always corner me when I’m alone and tell me what a b*tch I am because according to them I don’t deserve Patrick.

I was done getting ready for school in ten minutes. I don’t know how I do it but I always get ready very quick. From my apartment to Zion Academy is a 5 minute ride if I’m riding my bike. I grabbed an apple from the fridge and locked my apartment then rushed to the garage. I pulled the bike cover that protects my bike from dust and a black Ducati 1199 Panigale greeted me a ‘good morning.’ I quickly rode my bike and turned the ignition on then finally driving my way to school. I was wearing a black helmet and black leather fingerless motorcycle gloves. I prefer riding a bike because I can easily arrive to my destination quickly and at the same time avoids too much traffic because a little space from two vehicles is all I need in order to push through them on a busy road.  My speed accelerated from 60 km per hour to 120 km per hour on the highway. I started decelerating when I saw the gates of Zion Academy and parked my bike near the exit. I ran my way to the school auditorium where Patrick was waiting for me. I texted him to know where he was.

Me: Pat? I’m here at the auditorium. Where are you?

Patrick <3: 4th row on the left side baby. J

I looked for him to where he told me he was and I saw him smiled at me and gestured me to come.
