Everywhere I went it seemed
I was on look out for something
But not knowing what it was
All I found was nothing.Despair as such I have never known
Engulfs me as I try to define
This thing that leaves me unwhole,
Distraught and dissatisfied.Frantic does the search become
As desperation grabs me in a grip
I find myself settling for anything
That almost quenches my raging need. But only to realise that ice only
Leaves one even more thirsty.
Like chasing mirage in a desert
And warmth in burnout ashes. On abandoning the maddening quest
Do I finally come close within reach
Of this marvelous priceless gift
Straining myself to not lunge at it.My hands blindly grasping in air
My eyes wide open with shock
I stare transfixed at what I see
My tongue tied and gaze locked. What I thought was unattainable
Discovered in the most common places
In genuine smiles , warm eyes
Thoughtful words and honest praises.Making most of these tiny moments
I cherish them thoroughly
But all too soon they fade away
Even so memories refuse to flee. You will find myself hunting nomore
As I learnt my lesson well
But how long till I stumble across these once again
Or find someone willing to sell?Or I can create them myself
For someone, so they know too
What a pleasure it is to find at most unexpected places
Somethings you would learn to value. And again when I find myself in need
Of this nameless but gratifying thing
I dont wait nor do I seek out
But instead encounter it within.
