Mina x Mute!Reader ~First Words~

People didn't believe I could achieve being a hero if I was a mute. They told me I wouldn't be able to do it. I tried anyway. I met some of the most supportive and amazing people ever. One person that struck me different was Mina Ashido. A very energetic girl, too energetic if you ask me, but still an amazing person. Talented, beautiful-
"(Y/N)! Lost in your thoughts again?"
I nodded yes and she understood from my look that I wanted to talk more. Well, not talk but converse I guess. "So, not to sound rude or anything but I've always wondered why you don't talk..." I looked away. I wouldn't talk about. I didn't want to relive that part of my life. But this time I think she read my actions wrong." Well, I was wondering just about your past in general it seems like an interesting subject." I glared at her," I guess not then... but maybe you can talk despite what happened," I glanced at her curiously," y'know? Show the world and the people who hurt you how strong you've become!" I had never thought about that. I mean I guess it's worth a try... I made a little "mhm" sound and nodded my head to show her I would try it. "Oh my god really?! Great! I'll teach you all about uhh... words..." I'm not an idiot I know words it's just speaking is hard for me. "I'll teach you later in your dorm. Or mine. Whichever you want!" I smiled lightly. No one has ever offered to teach me to speak. Teachers had tried in elementary school but they just ended up losing hope. Mina didn't. She's been trying to get me to talk since we met. She hasn't ever formally tried to teach me though...

"Okay so it seems you know how to make little sounds like hm..."
I nodded
"Why don't you try a simple hi or hello? I'll start! Hi!"
"H-h-i"
"I'll take it! That's your first word right? Cool!"
She never gave me any chance to react she just always went with it. That was something I truly admired about her.
"What about saying hi your name? Like, hi
I'm (Y/N) or something like that?"
"H-h" she looked at me in anticipation and I got a little nervous," I'm (Y-y/n)"
"Yay!!! You're doing amazing! I'm so happy (Y/N)!"
~one month later~
"Okay so we've been hanging out for a while now..."
"Mhm"
"...a-and I was wondering if maybe we could be... more than friends?"
I looked at her and made a heart with my hands
"It's just, you've come so far and I felt so happy going on that journey with you..."
"Y-you beat me to it. I've been working on something."
"Really? What?"
I took a note from my pocket. She looked at it curiously
"What's that?"
"N-note"
"Oh."
I began to read it aloud
"Dear Mina, the moment I met you something struck me different. I never enjoyed speaking and being around people until you came along. No one in this world has ever been kinder to me than you have. I don't know the words to use to describe this feeling. I'm sorry"
"(Y-Y/N)! That's ,like, the clearest you've ever spoken! And I think I know just the right words to teach you! Come on!"
She grabbed me by the arm and sat me down next to her on a park bench.

"I love you (Y/N). I don't mean to jump to conclusions when I say this but I think that's what you were trying to explain to me in your note and I feel the same way if that's the case..."
"Yes..."
"Hm?"
