"So, tell me about yourself Fields." I smiled as we started walking.
"We'll there's really nothing cool or fascinating about me." She replied.
"Of course there is." I stated.
She paused before speaking.
"We'll, I'm an only child, I moved here from Arizona, I've been in swimming since I was six, and I had-" But she stopped.
"You had what?" I asked gripping the handle on my purse.
"I-it's nothing." She mumbled.
"Does this have anything to do with a boy?" I asked smiling.
Then her face went red. "N-no" she stuttered.
"Look here, I'm the only one who can keep secrets and they stay hidden, I will find out what you're hiding." I smirked and picked up my walking pace.
She froze for a few beats then caught up to me.
Soon after, we arrived at my house. I went and set my purse on the table. I turned around to see Emily frozen by the door.
"You can move yah know?" I sarcastically said to her.
She then dropped her book bag on the ground and came closer to me.
"Want a snack?" I offered.
She shook her head.
"Um, okay so lets watch that movie now." I said as we made our way to my couch.
"What kind of movies do you like?" I asked her looking at our bookshelf full of movies.
"Scary." She said in a cheerful voice. "Perfect me too. The other girls hate them so I'm glad I have some one I can watch them with." I told her grabbing the human centipede off of the DVD shelf.
"That's one hell of a movie." She said pointing to the DVD in my hand.
"Don't spoil, I've never seen it." I put the movie in the DVD player, and went to go sit down next to Emily.
"Um, can we skip the previews?" She asked me.
I shook my head. "It gives us time to talk, so tell me. About this 'secret'."

She rolled her eyes.

"It's really nothing."

I could tell that she really did not want to talk about this.

"Okay." I simply said as the main menu of the movie came on. I grabbed the remote and pressed play.

-----------------

"I never want to watch that again, or speak of it." I said as the movie ended.

She giggled.

"You have a cute laugh." I pointed out to her.

She smiled even wider.

And a cute smile for that matter. Wait no Ali stop. What are you doing?

"So um..." I stuttered.

"It was a girl." She simply said.

"What?" I asked having no idea what she was talking about.

"It wasn't a boy that I left, it was a girl." She said closing her eyes.

I froze. Oh man I feel like a jerk. Normally, I don't feel bad for these kind of things but she's so sweet and she's new here and I already upset her.

"Oh." I simply said.

"I understand if you don't want anything to do with me now. I mean you're the queen bee you can't be seen with a gay."

"What are you talking about?" I asked her.

"I wouldn't want to ruin your reputation." She mumbled.

"I don't care who you like to date." I simply said.
There is something about her that brings out the good in me.

"So, tell me about her." I asked.

"Her name was Maya. She was pretty amazing. I-I loved her. Then one day my mom decided we should just leave all of that behind." She said all at once.

"I-I'm sorry." I blankly said. I really didn't know what to do In these kind of situations. I never really had anyone open up to me so when it finally happened I didn't know what to do.

Naturally my first instinct was to poke fun of her but I just couldn't.

"You know, for a popular girl, you're actually really nice." She laughed.

"You're the only one who's ever said that. Everyone loves to hate me but their too scared to say it to my face. Sometimes, I wonder if my own friends really like me." I told her.

This is really the first time I've ever opened up to someone. And the first time anyone has cared to listen to what I have to say.

"Well, I like you." She said.

I gave her a confused look.

"You said you wondered if your own friends liked you. Well, I'm your friend right? I like you." She smiled finishing her sentence.

I smiled back at her.

For the first time, I really looked into her eyes. And she looked in mine. At that moment, I've never felt anything like I did. I don't know what it was, but I didn't want that feeling to go away.

She looked away looking at the time.

"Want to watch another movie? My mom is happy I'm making friends so she said I could stay out until 7."

"Sure. You pick the movie and ill go get us some snacks." I chirped up.

"What kind Of movie?" She called out to me as I was exiting the room.

I turned around. "Surprise me."

As I entered the kitchen, I opened the fridge and got two cokes out, then I grabbed a bag of pop corn out of one of the pantries and slipped it into the microwave.

As it was cooking I leaned on the counter thinking, Thinking about Emily. I just met her today but I felt like I've known her for years now.

My thoughts were interrupted by the beep of the microwave signaling the popcorn was done cooking.

I grabbed the hot bag and shook it as I made my way to the living room.

"So what movie did you pick?" I asked as I handed her a coke.

"You'll see." She teased.
I opened the popcorn bag as the movie started. It was mean girls.

I laughed. "I've seen this movie so many times."

"Well, I've never seen it so shut up." She playfully said and shoved a piece of popcorn in her mouth.

I could tell I was really going to like Emily.
