As the Fellowship continues their journey south, they travel along the shadows of an aqueduct's ruins. A fog lay thick and heavy on the ruins.
"Frodo, come and help an old man." Gandalf calls to Frodo.
Frodo looks first at Y/n and she nods for him to go. He gives her a small smile as he walks forward to Gandalf and she walks back to help with Bill.
"How is your shoulder?" Gandalf asked.
"Better than it was." Frodo replied.
"And the Ring?" Gandalf asked more concernedly.
"You feel its power growing, don't you? I've felt it too. You must be careful now. Evil will be drawn to you from outside the Fellowship. And, I fear, from within." Gandalf added gravely.
"Who then do I trust?" Frodo questioned.
"You must trust yourself. Trust your own strengths." Gandalf advised.
"What do you mean?" Frodo asked.
"There are many powers in this world, for Good or for Evil. Some are greater than I am. And against some I have not yet been tested." Gandalf stated.
"The Walls... of Moria!" Gimli whispered in awe.
The Fellowship comes to a stop by an eerie lake and look upon a vast cliff face.
"Dwarf doors are invisible when closed." Gimli informed the group.
Gimli knocks his axe against the rock. The Fellowship moves along the wall, searching for a semblance of a door
"Yes, Gimli, their own masters cannot find them, if their secrets are forgotten." Gandalf quietly chuckled.
"Why doesn't that surprise me?" Legolas chuckled as well.
Gimli grumbles at Legolas' words, but says nothing. Walking along the edge of the lake, Frodo accidentally steps into the shallow water but quickly pulls his leg back. Gandalf approaches a rock between two imposing trees, and places his hand over part of the cliff face.
"Now... let's see. Ithildin —" Gandalf speaks to himself.
Gandalf runs his hand over what looked like spidery silver lines, faint beneath the dirt on the rock face.
"It mirrors only starlight... and moonlight." Gandalf mumbled as he looked up at the black night sky, the moon suddenly appearing out of the clouds. The silver lines grow bright, outling a door formed of two columns beneath an arch, with a star in the center of the arch.
"It reads 'The Doors of Durin — Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter.'" Gandalf read out loud to the company.
"What do you suppose that means?" Merry asked.
"Oh, it's quite simple. If you are a friend, you speak the password, and the doors will open." Gandalf spoke a matter of factly.
"Annon Edhellen, edro hi ammen!" He spoke in Elvish (Translation: Gate of the Elves, open now for me!)
The Doors however remained closed.
"Fennas Nogothrim, lasto beth lammen." Gandalf tried again. (Translation: Doorway of the Dwarf-folk, listen to the word of my tongue.)
"Nothing's happening." Pippin piped up.
Gandalf glances at Pippin looking slightly annoyed. He begins to push on the doors, but they remain fast.
"I once knew every spell in all the tongues of Elves... Men... and Orcs." Gandalf grumbled.
"What are you going to do, then?" Pippin asked.
