My alarm clock rang. I open my eyes and turned on my lamp. I get up and walked to the bathroom. I rubbed my eyes as I brush my teeth. I yawn. It's hard for me to stay awake. I guess I shouldn't have stayed up all night.

I finished brushing my teeth and I went to my closet. I grabbed skinny jeans and a sweater. I went back into the bathroom and straighten my hair. I changed my clothes and walked out.

I look at my alarm clock, it's 5:30 a.m.

" Are you serious?" I said to myself. I woke up to early. I went downstairs. I see a note.
You might be looking for me. Sorry, you just look so peaceful sleeping. Anyway, I had to go to work early. Make yourself breakfast, but don't burn the house, hun. I'm coming back tomorrow morning. Love you.
~ Aunt Susan

I place the note back on the counter and grabbed some bread. I placed it in the toaster. I grabbed a bottle of water and drank it as I wait.
Do I look nice enough for Hayes? Is he even going to school? I wonder what he is wearing. Maybe jeans. Or khakis. And a polo shirt. He looks nice in jeans.

The toaster made a noise which snapped me out of my thoughts and jump. I put the toast on a plate.

" How can I burn toast?" I ask myself as I look at my burnt toast.

" I was gonna ask you that." Someone said. I held my breath and turn around. Hayes.

" What are you doing here?" I asked.

" Just came by." He came closer to me. I backed away slowly until my back hit the counter. He put his hand on my waist. My eyes stared into his blue eyes. I held my breath. I tensed up a little and Hayes chuckled.

" What?" I asked.

" You're cute." He said. I blush and looked down. He called me cute. I hear a door close and I look up.

" Hayes?" I said. He left. I knew it. I grabbed my backpack and walk outside.

" Hey, Bethany! Did you eat yet?" Gabe asked as he ran by me.

" I'm not hungry." I said.

" Nonsense. Let's go to McDonald's." Gabe said.

" Gabe, I don't want McDonald's." I said. Don't get me wrong, I eat there. It's just not what I plan to eat sometimes.

" Then Starbucks." Gabe offered.

" Gabe, why can't you just go with Ari?" I asked.

" She is mad at me." He said.

" Why?" I asked.

" I left her at the mall." He looked down.

" You said she would understand." I said.

" I thought she would." He said as he looked at me. I just shook my head. We walked to school in silence. I walked inside my class and sat down. The bell rang. 10 minutes later, Ari came in.

" Ms. Collins, you are late." Ms. Jones said in a unpleasing tone.

" Well, someone ditched me... again." Ari said, looking straight at Gabe. Gabe lowered his head.

" Don't be late next time." She said as she continued her lesson. Ari sat down and crossed her arms. Ari looked at Gabe.

" I can't believe you." She whispered. He looked at her.

" What? You except me to wait at your house every time." He said. I awkwardly sat there because I sat in the seat between them.

" Yes. You always did." Ari said.
