14| The Almost Kiss

I open my eyes. I hear a light snore. I look up to see Shawn. I smile as I got up.
" You two didn't do anything wrong, right?" I hear Aunt Susan asked. I jumped and laughed.
" No." I said.
" It's been a long night a work." She said.
" What did you do?" I asked.
" Oh, it's nothing. Anyways, I am thinking that you should do a YouTube channel." Aunt Susan said.
" I can't, Aunt Susan. " I said.
" Is it because in 4 years-" She was cut off.
" What in 4 years?" Shawn asked.
" Nothing, dear. You should head home, your parents might be worried." Aunt Susan smiled.
" Okay...Bye, Bethany." Shawn said as he walked out the door.
" Sweetie, join the youtube thing. " She said.
" Aunt Susan, can we talk about this later?" I asked. She nodded. I walked to my room and I lay in my bed. I felt something. I open the blankets to see Hayes.
" What the heck, Hayes?" I waked him up.
" Sorry, Bethany. I was waiting for you but I guess I fell asleep." Hayes said.
" We can't see each other. Remember what my aunt said?" I asked.
" Yea, but I needed to see if you're okay." He said.
" Why wouldn't I?" I asked.
" It's just you left the dance early." He said.
" Oh, now you care?" I asked. I didn't care about he thought or if he even cared about me. Actually, I do care. No, I don't. Ugh.
" Bethany, why are you dating Shawn?" He asked.
" Why do you need to know?" I asked.
" Because I just want to know... and I do care." He said.
" Isn't Madison waiting for you to call her or something like that?" I asked.
" Why do you hate me all of a sudden?" He asked. I stared at him.
" I- I don't hate you, Hayes." I said. I laid against my bed frame. Hayes just stared at me like he was unaware of what to do or say. Suddenly, Hayes came closer to me. Our faces were inches away. He glanced at my lips then looked at my eyes. The space between us was slowly disappearing then...
Ring. Ring. Ring.
Hayes pulled back and grabbed his phone.
" Madison... hold up." Hayes said. He quickly talked to her then hung up.
" Where were we?" He smiled as he came closer. I pulled him away.
" Hayes, I can't do this to Shawn. And I'm sure you can't do this to Madison. So it's best that you leave. I'll see you in school... maybe." I said. Silence came.
" Fine." Hayes finally said as he got up. He opened my window and jumped on the tree near it. I have a tree near my window, how did I not know that?
" Bye." He said as he closed my window and climbed down.
