After I blow dried my hair, I put on my outfit.
I started to think about how horrible the date will be. He probably will bring me to a bar with a fake I.D. Or break someone out of jail.
I mean it's Shawn. He wants to be the bad guy.
" Bethany, someone is here for you." Aunt Susan shouted. Oh, no. I forgot to tell her about the date.
I looked at myself. I look... okay? I'm not good at loving myself. I probably look bad in everything. I grab my bag and phone.
Maybe he will bring me to a fast food restaurant and ditch me so he won't pay.
I grabbed my wallet and put it in my bag. Just in case. I put on my white Converse shoes and walked out my room.
I quickly walk towards Aunt Susan. I look at Shawn. He is wearing a white shirt, jeans, and black Converse.
" You didn't tell me that you had a boyfriend." Aunt Susan smiled.
" Wait? Did you just say boyfriend?" I asked. I could puke right now.
" Yes. He seems nice. I'll see you later." Aunt Susan kissed my forehead and walked away, leaving us alone.
" Um..." Shawn trailed off.
Shawn's Pov
" Um..." I trailed off. Bethany looks... wow. I want to tell her but I just got tongue tied.
Just tell her that she's beautiful.
" So you don't look that bad." I ended up saying. Stupid me.
Bethany just stared at me then rolled her eyes. She pushed past me and walked towards somewhere.
" Bethany, I didn't mean it like that!" I shouted as I ran to her.
" Then what did you mean?" She asked as she faced me.
Don't be stupid. Don't be stupid.
" I have seen better." I said. No, why did I say that?
" Shawn, just stop. If you wanted to hurt my feelings then don't even try dating me. I'm so stupid." She said as she walked back towards her home. I grabbed her wrist.
" Please." I said. Now, I sound desperate.
" Fine, Mendes." She said.
Bethany's Pov
Great, why would I say "fine"? It's already a mess.
We started to walk. I notice that he doesn't even look at me. I keep hearing him mumble something but I can't hear it.
I turn to look at the shops. I look at one and see Hayes with Madison. they start to walk out.
" Shawn." I walked to the side of him.
" Yea." He finally looked at me.
" Can we hold hands?" I asked.
" I'm kind of scared. Still new here." I continued.
" Sure." He smiled as our fingers intertwined.
" Hey!" I heard Hayes shout. I bit my face as Shawn turned around.
" It's Bethany. Ugh." Madison said. At least, she didn't throw a mean comment about me.
" Hey, Bethany." Hayes said, awkwardly. I nodded.
" Are you two dating?" Hayes asked.
" Yes. We are. Actually, we are going on a date right now so bye!" I said as I dragged Shawn away.
" Bethany." Shawn said as he pulled his hand away.
" You have feelings for Hayes?" Shawn asked.
" The real question is do you like Madison?" I asked.
" What? You didn't answer my question." Shawn said.
" You didn't answer my question." I said.
" I don't have feelings for Madison. She acts like a little baby- no, worst than a baby." Shawn said.
" Now, answer my question." Shawn said.
" I don't have feelings for Hayes." I said. Well, I think I don't.
Shawn nodded and continued to walk. I actually wanted to hold his hand again. It felt right. I felt somewhat safe.
" Where are we going?" I asked.
" Here." Shawn said. I look and saw McDonald's. I knew it!
" Turn your head." Shawn said. I did and saw a roller skating place. Oh.
" Have you roller skated before?" I asked.
" Nope." Shawn said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me in there.
" Um." I managed to say as we walked inside. Everyone looked like a professional something. I'm gonna look like a loser. Madison would say I am one.
I didn't realize that Shawn was coming back with skates.
" I can't skate." I said. Now, I regret not taking that roller skating class with my grandma.
" I can't either." Shawn said.
" I'll fall on my butt and you'll laugh at me." I said.
" And when I fall, you can laugh at me." Shawn smiled. I giggled but tried to be serious.
I grabbed the skates and took off my shoes. I put them on but had a hard time getting up.
" Got it?" Shawn asked. I nodded. I managed to get up. I tried to move but almost fell causing me to scream.
" Let me help you." Shawn said. He grabbed both of my hands and gently pulled me to the rink.
I started to slip a little. I fell on Shawn but he gained his balance so we wouldn't fall. His arms were tightly around me. I looked into his eyes. He gave me a side smile. I pushed myself away, still holding on to Shawn.
" I know a little about skating so let me help you." Shawn said. I nodded. He put his hands on my waist. He was behind me. He gently pushed me.
" Now, move your feet. Left and right." I did what he said. I stumbled a little.
Shawn started to give me some tips. I wanted to skate on my own so I did. I fell many times.
Now, I got it. I gliding around the rink. I do admit, this is fun. I watch Shawn skate around. I smiled and went to him.
" Thanks." I said.
" No problem. " He smiled.
" Didn't you say you can't skate?" I asked.
" Yes but I know some tips. Plus my mom would sometimes bring me here." Shawn said.
" So you lied." I said.
" Maybe." Shawn said as he held my hand. Suddenly, I don't feel like I hate him. I know a different side of Shawn. The sweet, caring one. The side I knew he made.
Somehow, I feel attracted to him. Like I want to know him more. I want to see this side of him everyday.
" I'm sorry." Shawn said. I snapped out of my thoughts.
" What?" I asked.
" About the 'I have seen better' and 'you don't look that bad'. " Shawn said.
" Oh." I said.
" I wanted to say that you look beautiful. You always do." Shawn smiled. I started to blush. My cheeks might be really red right now.
" Thank you, Shawn. " I smiled and looked at him. The lights started to dim and disco lights came.
Shawn put his hand on my waist and I put my arm around him. We started to skate.
Hours later, Shawn took me to the beach. It was dark outside but the beach looked beautiful. Shawn started a fire and we sat by it. I watch the waves crash on the shore.
I always like the night. The moon shining. The stars in the sky. It's beautiful.
" Bethany?" Shawn said. I looked at him.
" Tonight has been great. " He said.
" To be honest, it wasn't how I excepted it to be." Shawn gave me a confused look.
" It was better than I expected." I smiled. Shawn broke into a smile. He placed his arm around me. I put my head on his shoulder. We don't talk. it's not awkward. It's actually nice, peaceful.
