" One word- Party!" Ari said.
" Yea. Lets do that." Gabe said.
" Bethany?" Ari looked at me.
" I'd rather not." I said as I grabbed my book. I began to read but Ari took it away.
So Gabe, Ari, and I talked about my date. Then we went in my room. I am currently in my pajamas. Ari is sitting by me. Gabe is sitting on the chair by my desk.
" You went to a party last time." Ari said.
" You wanted me to go plus I didn't like it. "
" Why? How?" Gabe asked.
" It's not my thing. " I said.
" Not being so shy." Ari said.
" I'm not shy." I said.
" So antisocial?" Gabe asked.
" No." I said.
" Then what?" Ari asked.
" Asocial." I said.
" Asocial?" Ari and Gabe said in unison.
" What's the difference between asocial and antisocial?" Gabe asked.
" Antisocial is against society. I am not against society- just avoiding it." I said.
" But you talk about society." Ari said.
" I'm observing it." I said.
" So if you are avoiding society... Doesn't that make you shy?" Gabe asked.
" No, I'm completely comfortable with talking to someone if I have too. But if I don't have to talk to anyone then I'll avoid people." I said.
" Changing subject! I'm throwing at party at the beach." Ari said.
" Awesome." Gabe said.
" Not for me." I mumbled. I remember the first and hopefully the last party I went too. It wasn't how I was suppose to remember it but I was silly for having expectations.
Let's see what I remember:
Drinking wine, talking with Hayes, Madison getting mad at us...
Nothing happened much. I think.
" Bethany, I'm not dragging you in this. I know that you need a break. You already talked to a lot of people today." Ari said. I rolled my eyes as she tried not to laugh.
" Good, causing I need to study for our-"
" Nope! Don't remind me!" Ari shouted.
" Math test." I said.
" Ugh." She said.
" I love math." Gabe said. Ari looked at him then they started to laughing.
" You loving math..." Ari said as she continued to laugh.
" Haha. Anyways, my aunt should be home soon so you should leave." I said.
" Go, Gabe. Leave." Ari said.
" You too, Ari." I said. She groaned and got up.
" Let's go, Gabe. I need to buy myself a pizza anyway." Ari said as she dragged him out the room.
" Will you share?" Gabe asked.
" Um, no." She smiled as she closed my door.
Hours later, I heard the door open.
" Bethany, can you help me?" I heard Aunt Susan shout. I got up and went downstairs. Aunt Susan was trying to clear out the decorations that was in front of her house.
" Why are you doing that?" I asked.
" Bethany, I know it's a little to soon but a few months ago, I was planning to move. So we are moving in a couple of weeks. Maybe three months later." She said as she picked up a plastic flamingo.
" What? " I asked, shocked.
" Didn't I explain it already?"
" Yea but I just moved here. Then I have to move again in three more months." I said.
" Yes." She said. I sighed but went go help her.
" I'm sorry that it's too soon but I really wanted to move and I noticed that some of my stuff have been stolen like other people lived with me. " She said. The guys. Ari and Gabe. They know where the spare key is.
" Oh." I said.
" Don't worry. We are not moving across the world." I smiled.
" It's just around here." She continued.
An hour later, we finished clearing the stuff and put it in boxes.
" Okay, so I'm going to donate all this stuff. Do you want to come?" Aunt Susan asked. I nodded.
" In your pajamas?" She laughed.
" Yea." I said. Let's be honest, I'm too lazy to change. I am 100% sure that I look like a monster in kitty pajamas.
" Alright." We grabbed the boxes and put it in her truck. When we were done, she drove to the place.
" So, I heard that you had a date." She said.
" What? How?"
" I'm friends with Shawn's mom, sweetie. I know some things."
" Like what?"
" How stressed he was. He wanted it to be perfect." She laughed.
" Wow. It just seemed like he didn't care that much."
" That's just how boys like to act sometimes." She said.
Maybe I was wrong. Shawn does care, he cares so much that he has to be mean. He cares more about people than himself.
Or people don't listen to him and he gets angry...
" Bethany, I'm sorry about you and Hayes not seeing each other. It must be hard."
" Actually, it's not." I said, being honest.
" He has his own thing, I have mine. We are too different." I continued.
" I know that you liked him." She said.
" How?" I said, looking at her.
" You acted like I never had a crush before." She laughed as I smiled.
" It was silly. He just distracted me." I said. She nodded.
She parked the car when we got there. We got out and grabbed some of the boxes.
" Hello, I'm donating." Aunt Susan said as she places the box in the counter.
" Okay, I'll send some people to get it for you." The lady said.
" Thank you."
" Bethany, you can look around." Aunt Susan said. I nodded and went to the little stack of books. The place smelled of lime and the beach. The lights were dim but you can perfectly see inside. Surfboards, clothes, jewelry, and other stuff were here. I'm guessing this is a thrift shop.
" Bethany?" I turn and see Nash.
" Hey..." I said. I excepted no one I know will see me here but that was a fail.
" I like what you are wearing." He said as he tried to control his laughter. I slapped his arm and pretended to be very offended. A light chuckle escaped his mouth and I turned around.
" So why are you here?" He asked as he stood by me.
" My aunt wanted to donate some stuff because we are moving in a few months." I said.
" Moving?" Nash said.
" Not to a different state, maybe a few blocks away." I said.
" Why?" He asked.
" Because you and those dummies go inside the house and steal her food." I smiled. He chuckled.
" Wow. I thought she wouldn't notice."
" Well, you're wrong about that."
" I know that now." He said. I looked at the hats.
" Nash, you should get this." I said, holding a black hat.
" Buy it for me." He said.
" Never mind." I said. I didn't have any money with me.
" Bethany, I don't have your phone number." Nash said as he looked on his phone.
" Because I don't have a phone." Nash looked at me, confused.
" I'm kidding. Give me your phone." I said. He did and I typed in my number. I gave him my phone and he typed it in. When he gave it to me, the contact name read:
Nash is the best
" Haha" I said.
" It's a fact." He smiled.
" Sure." I said. We continued to look around then I broke the silence.
" How's Hayes?" I asked.
" He is fine, I guess. "
" Oh." I said.
" He isn't acting like himself. Less active." Nash continued.
" Maybe he is bored."
" Then he would go to Madison's house-"
" Why?"
" Maybe because they are dating.... Are you jealous?"
" No, just wondering." I said.
" How's Shawn and you?" Nash asked.
" How many people know about my date with him?" I asked.
" Hayes found out and told the guys." Nash said. He did see Shawn and I walking around. I did say we were on a date.
" Well, Shawn and I are great, I think. I mean he is an amazing guy but he..." I trailed off.
" Gets angry easily? Yea, you'll get use to it." Nash said. I nodded.
" I'm just scared, you know. He might do something crazy." I said.
" Don't worry." He said.
" I gotta go." Nash said as he hugged me. I would be very weirded out because he is hugging me but it felt comfortable. I hugged him back. I soon felt him being pulled away.
" Don't touch her." I heard Shawn say.
" Dude, I'm just giving her a hug." Nash said.
" Shawn, calm down." I said. I didn't want him to be mad since we were in public. He looked at him, wondering if he should.
" Fine." He said as he came to me. His arm bumped into Nash's arm, making Nash stumbled. I gave Nash a I'm-so-sorry look and he just nodded then walked away.
Soon, Shawn hugged me.
" We have been separated for like four hours and I see you with another guy." He smiled. I felt his breath on my neck.
" Which is my friend." I smiled.
" I love you." He said. Love? Isn't too soon for that word?
" I don't care if it's too soon. I'm in love with you, Bethany. I am." He said as he pulled away.
" Very cheesy." I said. He chuckled.
" Bethany, let's go." I heard Aunt Susan say. I hugged Shawn again and walked to the truck with Aunt Susan.
" He is a nice guy. You are very lucky. " Aunt Susan said.
" Aunt Susan!" I kind of shouted. Very embarrassed at this point because Shawn could still hear us.
Once we got back home, I checked the mail box.
" Bills, bills, junk... A letter for me?" I put the other mail away and went to my room. The letter is from Chris. I miss him so much. I ripped open the envelope.
Dear Bethany,
You probably forgot about me... It's Chris! Anyways, I don't know when you'll see this, maybe it two years ,but I'll just write stuff that happened after you left.
Canada isn't the same without you. I'm very bored. I miss eating all your cookies! I have no one!
Okay, I'm kidding on that. I have Crawford and my parents and my friends, okay I'll stop.
Point is I miss you. Is keeping you in my closet still a choice?
Don't forget about our promise! I'm counting the days... not really but I'm waiting.
From your bro,
Chris Collins
A tear slipped off my cheek as I lightly laughed. I closed the letter and smiled.
