04| Drinking with Confusion

I finish curling my hair. I changed into a red skater skirt and black crop top that covers my stomach. I put on black flats and walked to the living room.

I'm scared but excited. I'm actually going to my first party. What if I don't fit in? What do people do at parties anyway? All they do is danced, right?

" Knock. Knock." I hear Ari said. I snapped out of my thoughts and walked to the door. I saw Ari in black leggings, black Converse shoes, and a big galaxy shirt.

" Ohhhh, someone is looking nice." She said. I smiled.

" Let's go!" She said. I grab my purse and close the door as I walked out. We began to walk towards Nash's house.

As we walked on the steps, I can hear the music. We walked in. I see a bunch of people. Some were dancing. Others were kissing others. I look at Ari, who already disappeared.

" Great." I mumbled.

" Bethany!" I hear someone shout. A wave of happiness came. Hayes called me. I smiled and walked to him. He didn't say anything. He grabbed my hand and led me upstairs with him.

Part of me said to go with the flow. The other says to punch him then go home to eat ice cream.

We walked in a room and he closes the door. I sit on the bed. He sighs. He looked tired. He sat by me.

" I'm surprised you came." He smiled.

" I'm surprised too. I don't really go to parties." I said. He didn't say anything. We stayed silent for a moment. The door opens which made me jump.

" Hayes, where is the key to the car?" A guy asked. He is tall. He had blond, long hair. His green eyes sparkled. I saw a few tattoos on his arm.

" In the kitchen, in the jar. Don't crash the car." Hayes laughs.

" Alright. Is it that loser from lunch? Why is she here? Wait, are you dating her? " The guy said, laughing.

" No. I don't date ugly pigs." Hayes said then he pushed me off the bed. I hit the floor. The guy laughed harder then closed the door. I still can hear his laugh. I got up and looked at Hayes.

I didn't know how I felt. I was angry but shocked. He touched me but it was to push me. I just crossed my arms and stared at him.

" Why?" I finally said. He looked at me.

" What?" He said.

" Why did you do that?" I said.

" Bethany, I can't be seen with you." He said.

" What? Am I that embarrassing to you?" I said.

" You don't understand." He said.

" Maybe I don't. " I said. I began to walk out the door until I felt him grab my waist. I gasped and turned around. His blue eyes stared into mines. We stood there for a while.

" Have you ever had wine before?" He finally asked. I shook my head. He smirked and let go of me. He began to walk towards a drawer. He grabbed a box and two wine glasses. He opened the box and grabbed the red wine. He poured the wine in the glasses. He sat on the bed. I sat by him. I grabbed the cup. I suck in my lips.

" Do you want it?" He asked. I look at him.

" Yes." I said. He smirked and raised his glass.

" To your first drink." He said then I raised my glass up a little. He began to drink the wine. I looked at mines. I put the glass between my lips then let the red wine pour in. I choked a little but continued to drink it. By the time I was done, Hayes was looking at me.

" Another?" He asked. I nodded my head. I don't know what he does to me. I know that I would never do this. But with him, it's totally different.

We continued to drink until my fifth glass. My head was pounding. I ran to the bathroom and puked. I felt someone lift up my hair. I got up and Hayes gave me a towel. I washed my face then wiped it. He gave me water. I drank it but spit it out in the sink.

" How come you are fine?" I asked.

" You get use to it." He smiled. I rub my temples. He began to rub my neck.

" Bethany." He said.

" Yea." I said. I'm trying to focus, but his touch. Just him makes me distracted.

" I never wanted to hurt you. " He whispered in my ear.

" Why do you do it then?" I asked.

" I don't know why-" He was cut off by Madison.

" Hayes!" She shouted.

" How could you?" I can see her face. She is furious.

" Babe." Hayes faced towards Madison.

" No. I can't believe that you would cheat on me with her." Madison said.

" It's not what it looks like." Hayes held on to Madison' s hand.

" I want her out! Get her away! She already ruined enough!" Madison said. Hayes looked at me.

" I'll just leave." I said. I walked out the door. I tried to deny every tear.

" Bethany!" Ari shouted.

" I'm leaving." I said.

" Why?" She stopped by me. I looked at her.

" Oh. I'm coming." She said. I nodded and we walked out the house. We walked to Starbucks.

" You had wine?" Ari said.

" Yea." I said.

" Well, I was dared to kiss a girl." Ari said.

" I liked it." She continued.

" But I'm not... Yea." She said.

" Ari, I have nothing against that. " I said.

" Good. I mean, great." She sighed and sipped her drink. We talked about random stuff.

" So Bethany, where are your parents?" She asked. I stop. Nobody really knows about my family expect Chris.

" You don't have to tell me. I just wanted to know." She said.

" I'm sorry but I can't tell you." I said. She just nodded. We finished and threw away our cups. We walked towards my home.

" I'll see you later." She said as she hugged me.

" Yea." I said as we pulled away. I watch her leave. I walked inside and closed the door. I went take a shower and changed into my sleeping wear. I brushed my teeth for like five minutes. I finished and lay in my bed. My eyes start to get heavy. Later on, I fell asleep.
