Finally, it's complete! I put a bit of the nuclear substance into the machine, the world-destroying machine. It's finally done. I've worked on this thing for many, many, far too many years.
"What do you think? I think it's perfect, go out with a bang! Ya know?" I ask, turning my head to the small rotting corpse sitting beside me, the back of his skull is gone and the half of his brain that didn't become part of the floor is turning to mush. His dead eyes and maggot-infested face stares back at me.
"Shut up, come on, time to go asshole." I say, grabbing the corpse and jar of red sand that once was the love of my life, and putting them in the ship. I press a button to open the roof above the ship and we blast off, the police are probably watching as we leave, they've been chasing me as I gathered the materials I'd need to power the machine.
I watch as we fly closer and closer to the stars. Once we're out of earth's atmosphere, I slam my hand down on a large button in front of me and look out the window to watch as the earth is blown to smithereens. I can feel the heat of it when I press my hand to the window. As the fire dies down I can see her in the reflection behind me. I turn around and there she is.
"Olivia!" I shout to her, and she just smiles at me, she has black wings and she glows a bit.
"Heh, I guess we really were doing the god's work." I say, I feel the tears start falling from my eyes, and then she disappears again. I look back to the window, at what once was a planet I used to call home. It seems like a bittersweet end as I look at the rubble of it now. Everything is gone, everyone is gone, everyone is dead now and nothing will ever be the same again. It's exactly what I wanted from the very start. My mission to destroy the world is complete. That's it, there's nothing left to do. I go back to the front of the ship and look at the small corpse in the passenger seat. His disgusting body, destroyed from years of death and the creatures of the earth trying to reclaim him, and I smile, knowing what comes next.
"Think it's finally time?" I ask, knowing full well that there won't be any response. I grab the jar of red dust that I swept off the floor so many years ago.
My last thought is about her, and the way she said "I love you" just before she died. With that one final perfect thought, I press the button and open the airlock door.
