Amelia POV

"Mooooooom" I hear shouting from Arabella's bedroom. Every single morning is like this. My princess is definitely a young girl now: she wants me to brush perfectly her hair  before school and she wants me to help her choosing the perfect clothes for the day.
"I'm coming,sweetie" I answer reaching her room. Out of my kids,Belle is definitely the one who looks more like me: rosy pale skin,red full lips, a huge amount of long dark curls and deep blue eyes. In Link's opinion she is becoming too beautiful which means that soon she will have boys trying to get her attention.  To him this is not supposed to happen which is a thing that makes me laugh every time time he brings up the subject.
"Look mom,I want you to do my hair like this" she says showing me a picture.
"Well okay,I'll try!" I have to admit that I became a pro with this hair thing during these years.
"But I really don't want to be late for school,mom. We have finals today"
"Yeah,I know I know which is why your dad is helping Leo to get ready to go. Are you worried for your exams?" I ask her
"No,I'm not....I've studied a lot this year and I think that it will pay off" she makes a proud mama: she is such a good student. Teachers say that she is the most brilliant in her class and that she makes no effort to keep up with the program. They suggested to take her a class higher in order to give her more space to express her genius but Link and I are still a little doubtful. Leo has the same talent,plus they want to become doctors too...and this is making me a even prouder mama.
"Okay princess,do you like it?" I ask her once I finished my job
"It's perfect mom...don't worry,go take care of Stacey...I'll get the twins ready" she says to me
"Thank you,darling" she is taking her big sister role very seriously.
Entering Stacey's room,I find my sweet blonde angel on the floor playing with dolls. If Belle is my mini me, Stacey is definitely the carbon copy of her father: blonde, bronze skin,heart shaped lips and icy blue eyes...she is going to be a heartbreaker too.
"Ready for kindergarten,my darling?"
"Yes mom"
"Hey baby,what's up?" I ask her sitting on the floor next to her
"I want dad"
"Let's go get dad,then...come here" I say holding her up heading to my bedroom.
Opening the door I find my husband getting ready for work: he has his normal job at the hospital and then,he is now offering free lectures on CPR in schools. "Hey,someone is a little daddy's girl" and Stacey throw herself between his arms "there you are,daddy's princess" he whispers to her "did you sleep well,angel? Amelia,go get ready I'll take care from this point"
"Thank you honey" I give him a kiss "10 minutes and we are good to go"
I forget to mention that after 5 years as a stay at home mom,I've made the decision to go back to work,part-time for now.
After dropping our kids to school we made our way to hospital,this is usually a great time to spend with my husband: we laugh a lot,we talk a lot.
Being back at work is so satisfying. Don't get me wrong,being a mother is my favorite job but operating on brain it doesn't sound like a job to me.
I know that the other moms are blaming us for not being too much into the school things such as parents group and everything but we sat down the kids ones,we explained them why and when they are asked they just casually answer that their parents are saving lives.

In the car,on our way home Link is asking Leo and Bella about their finals and Belle just said "it was easy...I can't get why some of my classmates were that stressed out" and Leo commented too "I agree sister,I agree". Link and I looked at each other, turning around I look at them "guys the exams were not easy,they were easy for you. You are extra smart,that's it."
After a few minutes of silence,Belle says "mom,can I ask you a question?"
"Whatever you want baby"
"My friend Dominique says that he saw their parents having sex. What does that mean?"
Before I could answer,Leo says "apparently mom and dad do it a lot too"
"Okay,Leo...enough! We will talk about it later okay?" Link says
And looking at me he says "you are on the girls duty,I'm on the boys"
"I don't think that Stacey needs to know...either the twins for now".
Entering the house we got greeted by Stacey and the twins.
"Hi my loves! Who wants some pizza for dinner?!" I ask
"Me!me!me!" They shout all at the same time
"Okay,on it guys" oh,I learnt how to cook during these years.

Reaching Belle's room I find her doing her homework on her bed.
"Do you want to talk?" I ask her
"About what,mom?"
"About What Dominique said to you?"
"Oh that...well I can figure it out by myself" she tries to dismiss the subject
"Honey,I'd prefer to be the one who tells you these things so you can understand better and ask me question"
"Well...okay then...isn't this embarrassing to you?"
"Why should it be?"
"I mean...Dominique said things...it looks something painful as he described that"
"Well,it's not" I smile at her
"How do you do it,mom?"
"Okay,honey. Do you remember when I told you the differences between boys and girls,right? Well,when two people are grown up and a lot in love they use those parts to have sex...which I prefer referring to it as making love"
"Making love?" She looks surprised
"Yes darling,that is the way babies are conceived. Babies come from love so..."
"So let me understand,to make me you and dad had to make a lot of love?"
"Exactly...listen,there is nothing to be embarrassed about:that is the highest manifestation of love and it helps a relationship becoming solid but,you have to do it with the right person to make it special"
"But that hurts!!" She says horrified
"It really doesn't baby,it's pleasant,it's sweet and it's powerful but definitely not painful"
"Okay...can I ask you another thing?"
"Of course baby"
"What a vagina does?"
"Well,it does a lot of things but mainly it's for making babies,again"
"How that happen?"
"Well,the babies grow in the mom's belly and then when it's time they come out from there"
"Ewwww mom...that's disgusting and it's sounds not funny"
"Not funny at all,but so worth it"
"So i came out from your..."
"Yep"
"I'm sorry,I hurt you" she looks at me with those eyes that make me fall in love every day
"You are welcome baby,plus you are so worth it" I softly caress her cheek
"So if that is painful mom,how can a mom love her own baby? I mean,after all the pain you suffered for bringing me to the world,did you love me instantly?"
"At first sight,darling...in a way you can't imagine until the day you will be a mother yourself"
"Wow...I guess it's a good feeling then"
"That makes you reevaluate all your life and reconsidering your definition of love because nothing is comparable to that...okay,now I let you study,if you need me I'm downstairs,my love"
"Mom?" I'm in the doorway and I turn around
"Tell me,honey" I smile at her
"Thank you for being my mom"
"Thank you for being my baby" I answer her.
