Selina's POV:

I took a deep breath and looked fist at my sister, then step-sister.  They're eyes were filled with worry.  Both of them knew that Mother wanted to kill Iris.  They both knew there was no way for them to prove it, unless Mother confessed, which would never happen in a million years.  I was they're only hope, the only hope they didn't know they had.  I had to tell them.

I took another deep breath and pushed my nerves back.

Iris's POV:

The trial was in an hour, and I still didn't know how I was going to prove to the judge that Alicia tried to kill me, and still wants to.  I'm sure my nervousness was visible a mile away, how was I going to hide it from Alicia?  God, please help me, I prayed.

"There's something you need to know, Iris."  Selena told me, causing my gaze to dart to her eyes, "I was in the back of the truck when Mother tried to kill you.  I was a coward not to do anything to help you and for that I'm ashamed.  But I want to speak as a witness, against Mother."

I sucked in a breath of shock.  She had been there?!  God, is this Your way of helping me?!  I don't know what to think!

"What?"  I whispered.

Selena's eyes watered.

"I'm sorry, and I'll never forgive myself for doing nothing and I'll never forgive myself."  She apologized again, "But I can help you convict Mother to a life sentence in prison.  After we do that, you can hate me forever."

God!  Help me!  I don't know what to do!

I jumped up from the table and ran into the living room, burying my face in the neatly folded blankets.  My brain was so clouded I couldn't think.

After a few minutes, someone came and sat beside me, placing their hand on my shoulder.  I turned my head to see who it was.  It was Grace.

"What do you want?"  I asked in monotone.

"To apologize for not believing you."  She answered quietly.

"It's a little to late for that, Grace.  You of all people should know that.  I would have believed you."  I replied, sitting up a little bit.

"I know.  I'm still sorry and I understand if you don't forgive me, Iris.  I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry."  Grace told me, bowing her head and standing up.

She hesitated a bit before leaving the room.  I took a deep breath and landed back down on the blankets, but without shoving my face into them.

Selena was in the truck.  She's a witness and she came clean.  She doesn't like Alicia anymore than I do.  Dear, Lord, what do you want me to do?  Amen.

I closed my eyes and listened.  After a bit, I took a deep breath and thought through everything that happened again.

Selena was scared, that's why she didn't help me.  How do I know she won't back out at the trial?  How do I know I can trust her?

Selena walked through the living room door with Georgie right behind her.

"We can trust her, Iris."  Georgie told me, nodding slightly.

I took a deep breath and studied Selena.  She didn't back down, but didn't glare at me either.

"Alright.  Let's do this."  I agreed, standing up.

A half an hour later, the Adams, Selena, Georgie and I entered the courtroom and took our seats. Selena, Georgie and I sat in the accusers seats with Mr. Adam, who was acting as our legal guardian for the case.  On the drive to the courtroom, we had filled him in on everything that had happened.  He believed us.  Benjamin, Roy, Grace and Mrs. Adam sat in the seats behind us, offering unspoken moral support.  In only a few minutes, one of the hardest battle of my life would begin.
