So, this isn't sad. I promise. And it's short. But, I made a theory and I'm ready to share it with the world.
DISCLAIMER: Please note that what is about to be said is only a hypothesis and thus isn't true until further data can be collected. (If data is ever collected...)
What is my theory on? You guessed it. Opposites Attract.
Now, because I'm taking AP Chemistry. I'm always thinking of electrons and protons.
So, while I was reading a fanfic, on a fictional character, they used the term 'Opposites Attract'
Google Search: Define Opposites Attract
"used to explain the phenomenon of dissimilar people taking a strong or romantic interest in each other."
But, thinking about it scientifically got me thinking.
Opposites attract because negative (electrons) and positive (protons) are known to be attracted to each other. They attract each other so that they can hold the atom in place.
Two negative charges will repel one another. The same will go for two positive charges because they're so alike they basically don't want each other. They create a repulsion.
Electrically, repulsions are 'bad' so you want the attractive force between a negative electron and a positive proton. It's easier to conduct electricity that way. Thus when you meet someone and you say, "We have chemistry"
In other words, the term Opposites Attract is perfect because it's what the other person is needing.
So, going back to putting the romance meaning of opposites attract chemically. If a person has too much of the same characteristic as you, you'd repel one another. That is because you already have those characteristics and you're more into being friends.
However, if you meet someone who can fill in what you are missing. Thats like what negative and positive charges do to each other so that they can both work to keep the atom together.
It's chemical attraction.
Opposites attract should be known as a good thing. You're bound to have a better relationship because you work together to sustain an atom's condition. :)
