Dragon slayer: Blood dragon

Chapter 2

After half an hour of walking Sam come across his best friend Tom. Sam and Tom had known each other since they were seven years old. They were like brothers from different mothers. Tom was almost as tall as Sam (185 cm to be exact). He wore an emerald-green robe that only reaches the bottom of the torso. They met while both of them were hunting. Sam was efficient with a sword however Tom was quite good with a bow and arrow. Tom had a scar across his left cheek that was noticeable almost immediately. He was walking back from target practise further up the forest. 

"Tom? Is that you?" Sam asked excitedly. "Hey Sam, what have you been doing recently?" Tom responded . "King Shalo assigned me to try and kill Hagor the blood dragon as the chains holding him down have nearly broken" Sam answered. "Oh yeah, I heard about that, how did Shalo find out?" Tom asked. "I think he has a mystic eye that allows him to spy on the dragons" Sam replied. Just then Sam saw the limping man again. Still limping and still wearing the same night-black cloak. It was covering his or her face so no one could tell who it was.

"Hey Tom, I might be hallucinating but... can you see that limping man?" Sam asked shakily. "Yeah I can" Tom responded confused. "HEY! turn around or I'll shoot!" Tom exclaimed. The figure turned around but they didn't say anything. The figure still had the glint from the corner of the eye. All of the sudden he or she whistled and yet again the creature (Presumed to be a Salones) picked the hooded figure by the arms and flew away. Tom got his bow and arrow and tried shooting but to no avail. "What the hell was that!" Tom exclaimed. "Don't know, all I can say is that he always flies away on a Salones" Sam responded with annoyance in his voice. "What's a Salones?" Tom asked. "It's some weird hybrid, it has the body of a Blue bear and the wings of a Zamon hawk" Sam answered. Tom was confused as Zamon hawks have Silver wings, not gold.

"The wings were Gold however, so it must be genetically modified" He continued. "Yeah but, isn't gold the softest metal on Valon?" Tom questioned confused. "So surely when I hit the wing, the arrow would've penetrated the wing" He carried on, even more confused than before. "It will be a Gold alloy, probably Steel or Titanium" Sam replied. Sam had a book of all the creatures of Valon. He only needed to look through the Aconia section. "Look, Salones, a natural hybrid between a Zamon hawk and a Blue bear" Sam read out aloud. "Where did you get that book?" Tom asked in awe. "King Shalo gave it to me when I was tasked to defeat the demons of Aconia, don't you remember?" Sam replied. Tom smacked himself in the head. Everyone knew he didn't have the best memory and he hates it about himself.

After that they decided to carry on travelling across the fields when the saw something rush around in the tall grass. "Get ready and take aim" Sam whispered. All of the sudden the creature jumped out of the tall grass. Sam was known for being a bit reckless so he just went in to slash but the creature was very quick and hit him out of the way. Tom jumped back shot three arrows into the chest area, causing it to stumble back. Sam went in to stab the creature in the back but yet again he just got he out of the way. After that Sam rushed towards Tom. Tom shot two more arrows into the eyes to stun  him and Sam dashed and jumped while he had the opportunity and shoved his sword into the centre of the creature's chest. After a few steps back the creature fell to the ground. It was breathing heavily like it was drowning. Sam drew his sword and Tom's arrows out and noticed that the creature was bleeding an ocean-blue colour.

Sam and Tom were heading back to the bag when Tom noticed a gash in Sam's right arm. "Erm Sam?" Tom said with worry. "Yeah?" Sam said confused. "Just lift up your right arm's sleeve and I'll bandage it up" Tom told him. It was then that Sam noticed the gash in his arm. Luckily for Sam, he was left-Handed. After Tom finished, Sam grabbed out the creature book from his bag and a bottle of water. "Water?" Sam asked dragging a bottle out. Tom nodded his head and then Sam dragged another one out. He flicked through the pages to the G-part of the Aconia section. "Gra- Gra... ah there it is, grassland troll" Sam said while grinding his teeth to distract him from the pain. "A grassland troll, can grow up to 25 feet when fully developed and surprisingly bleed an Ocean-blue colour despite not being a water troll" Sam read out aloud.

Just after that, both Sam and Tom heard a booming yet cheerful voice bellowing behind them. It sounded like a loud roar echoing off all the walls in a cave. It turned out just to be Jayle the sword forger. "Hey guy- oh what happened to your arm?" Jayle asked in shock. "Fought a Grassland troll" Sam replied briefly. "We were just having a break and looking up what other creatures we might encounter" He continued. "Anyway, what are you guys up to?" Jayle asked again. "Sam was asked by King Shalo to attempt to kill Hagor the blood dragon and I decided to join him" Tom responded. Afterwards Sam and Tom followed Jayle to his forgery.

"Come on in" Jayle announced. Sam and Tom were in shock, they heard about this place but they never knew how large this place was. Even if Sam was standing on his toes he couldn't reach the ceiling. That was just the first floor. "Can you guys just wait a minute?" Jayle asked. Both Sam and Tom nodded their head despite them getting a bit excitied. They saw him enter the forgery room then heard some loud clangs and crashes. Just then Jayle came back out. "Here you go Sam, it's just a little gift " Jayle said calmly. "Hope you like it" He continued. Sam did like it. He didn't just like it, he loved it. It was a new sword. 

The grip was a Gold-Titanium alloy with a Steel 4-foot blade. Just below the start of the blade was a Ruby. That made Sam not just happy because he loved Rubies but it was also his birthstone and he noticed that the design of the Ruby was an eye. Not just an eye, it was a Tiger's eye. It reminded him of his pet Tiger that he gave to someone he called it Diamond. He loved and missed Diamond dearly. "How on Valon did you know that my birthstone was the Ruby and my favourite animal was the Tiger?" Sam asked excitedly. "Remember when you came for your first sword? It was your birthday and you brought Diamond along with you" Jayle responded.

Five minutes later Sam, Tom and Jayle heard someone running outside. They all stepped outside and saw that it was Wallace. "Hey Wallace, what's wrong?" Tom asked. "Nothing, King Shalo just wanted me to give this to you" Wallace said wheezing and out of breath. He had been running for about an hour and a half with two breaks needed. "Thanks Wallace, what is it" Tom said with curiosity. "It's a time freezing pendant" Wallace said still wheezing, trying to catch his breath. Tom noticed that in the centre was an Amethyst. His birthstone was the Emerald but he still really liked Amethysts.

 "How does it work?" Tom asked. "All you have to do is say the names of people who you do NOT want to freeze the-" Wallace explained before being cut off. "SAM AND TOM!" Tom exclaimed before hitting the button. All of a sudden Jayle and Wallace froze and Tom realised his mistake and pressed the button for a second time. "Well I see you've figured out how to use it" Wallace said annoyed. All Sam and Tom did was have a bit of a chuckle. After that Sam and Tom carried on while Wallace headed back to King Shalo's castle and Jayle stayed at his forgery. "Good luck with your endeavour!" Jayle yelled. Sam and Tom put there thumbs up while walking away.
