Erk.
As I stepped off the last step of the staircase, I felt a dull pain in my head commence. It wasn't enough to make me moan though; which was sort of unusual - If my head was going to hurt, it'd usually be extremely painful, enough that I'd crawl into a super dark room and pass out. It was either that or I'd be fine, none of this weird in-between stuff.
"Maybe it's the stone walls.." I thought, trying to keep myself from overthinking. I overthink quite a bit - I just start worrying about things. I let my imagination make up the most far fetched explanations, then I believe them. Sometimes those fantastical explanations make sense; sometimes they don't. Sometimes they make me feel better, whereas sometimes they could make me really worried. You know, 'monster under the bed' kind of stuff. The insane stuff. I still believe those things - Honestly, In a world like this, how couldn't I?
I'd get a little nervous - with my head only hurting a little, it'd give me a -- feeling of suspense, if you will. It felt as if anxiety was in the air, and any minute something was going to happen, or someone was going to break the eerily quiet silence.
I'd sniffle a little, trying not to wake Rainbow up just yet.
"Sabre?" I'd hear a voice, but no doubt about it, it was Rainbow's. I'd sigh.
"Yeah?-- Eh - Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up..." I'd say, scratching the back of my head.
"No, I was already up..." He'd inform me. I wouldn't be surprised, but I hadn't known why he hadn't fallen asleep. Rainbow loves getting sleep, that's why he usually always so energetic. Lately, it's been quite different, though. He's always sad, as if he has no energy no matter how much sleep he gets. It seems like ever since the Rainbow Town was destroyed, things have just gotten worse.
"I miss the old Rainbow..."
"Emm... Something on your mind?" I'd ask him, snapping back to reality and neglecting my thoughts. I came around and sat on the end of the bed beside Rainbow's feet. I'd be careful not to accidentally bump into something and ruin the moment - I didn't want to distract him, I was quite interested.
"Not really... But--Uhm, what happened yesterday?" He'd ask me, eager to hear my response. He sounded as if something had happened that had made him scared - that of which, I hadn't known why.
"Ergh.." I say, thinking of what could have happened.
"What about... That guy? The Reverse guy!" I thought.
"No... No, Rainbow wasn't there! Rainbow wouldn't have known about that..!"
"I don't know," I'd respond, after wracking my brain and coming up empty. "What did happen yesterday?"
"When was yesterday..?"
"What do you mean, 'What happened yesterday?'" He'd laugh, sitting up so he could look directly at me.
"You practically split your head yesterday! Also, how's it holding up?" He'd exclaim, but I couldn't comprehend the last sentence. I was a little dumbfounded. I hit my head? Where? I don't feel any pain.
"Did that guy have something to do with it?" I thought. I was getting a little tired of calling him 'That guy' so I decided that for now I'd call him 'R', short for Reverse, until I learned his name.
I pinched my eyes closed and thought hard of the last thing I could recall before waking up.
"R was chasing me..."
"Galaxy disappeared somewhere..."
I'd open my eyes and see Rainbow's mouth moving, but I'd close my eyes and ignore him.
