"Y-You're..." My voice would shake.
"V-Void!"
I get up, without trying - or wanting - to see his reaction, and run. But, suddenly, I'd hear,
"H-Huh..?"
I'd stop in my tracks. It's not like Void to-- stutter!
"Sabre, wait..!"
"What..? Why is he acting like that..?"
"I--I don't trust you!" I'd say, shaking my head out of my current confusion and put it to the back of my head as I started to run again.
"S--Since when..!?" He'd say, as if we'd been friends before.
"As if."
"Why-- Why aren't you attacking me? You're-- evil!"
"Evil..?--"
"Yes, evil..! Why are you acting like this is a new thing? You've always been evil..!
"I...Have..? Sabre-- What..? What are you talking about..?"
Something in his voice made me stop. Was he joking?
"I don't think so..! He's always been so proud of his power - he loved flexing on us..! Maybe... He's upset he got destroyed..?"
"Void," I'd start, my back facing him. I'd look over at all of the odd-looking birch trees and sigh.
"You're being serious, right?" I'd turn slowly to face him.
"Sabre," He'd reply. "I've been telling the truth the whole time..!"
His wide, red eyes were filled with hurt, and his arms were up by his waist as if to say, 'I'm telling the truth'. The back tip of his dark grey hoodie was pointed downwards, which added to the genuine-looking frown on his face. He still had the worn-out blood-red stain on the left side of his hood. I only responded to him by looking down at the ground.
"No..." I thought, then repeated aloud: "No..."
He'd cock his head, which would give me even more confidence to continue what I was saying.
"You're only pretending - luring me into your trap. Don't think I don't know you, Void." I'd say dryly.
"But Sabre, I--" He'd start, but I'd take his pause to my advantage, interrupting him.
"You're the same Void who almost killed my friends..."
"Killed..!? I--"
"You're the same Void who abducted Rainbow, and-- for a while, brain-washed him..!" I'd yell, getting a little louder.
"Sabre... Listen! I have no clue what you'r--"
"You're the same Void from before..." I'd say, quickly coming up with something else to say. No, I knew what I was going to say to him - I was just giving him a chance to talk, which surprisingly, he didn't. He just stood, puzzled. I guess he was for a loss of words. I felt more confident, when, I remembered a memory of only a week before:
* * * * * * * *
I was in the dessert. We had finally gotten Rainbow back, out of Void's filthy hands - but he had disappeared, leaving only a small message written on a group of signs beside it. He still seemed a little shook - I didn't blame him. Maybe that's why he disappeared. There was something off about him, though. He seemed like he was hiding something, but I couldn't tell.
