~In which Nana becomes a zombie~
Nana looked like a ghost that haunted the BigHit building. She knew this. Why? She accidentally scared a few employees while trudging around (to be fair, it was around two in the morning).
She was absolutely exhausted. Lately, she had developed some sort of insomnia in response to her night terrors, and found herself spending a lot of time in her studio. Her anti-touch was also flaring up (and it had been so good lately!), so the boys could do nothing but watch as she withered away.
In her tired haze, she heard a distant scream. Then a very confused "what the fuck?"
Suddenly, Jungkook popped up in front of her. Guess it wasn't very distant at all.
"Nana? Why are you wandering around like this?"
She struggled to get the words out. It was like her entire body was lagging.
"I...what?" She spoke slowly.
"This isn't healthy, Na," he responded lowly, wanting to grab her shoulders and shake her out of it. He resisted the urge, knowing that she wouldn't react well after the last time someone touched her. She had thrashed violently and huddled into herself, leaving them all concerned.
"...What isn't?" The way she spoke reminded him of a child learning how to pronounce words. It almost drove him crazy to listen to her.
"This! This behavior, this walking around at night–how did you even get here? I swore I saw you at home–did you drive here? In this state? You could've died! Don't think that I–that we–haven't noticed that you haven't been sleeping." He was breathing heavily, desperately hoping that his words got through to her.
"...huh?" Her eyes were glazed over. For all intents and purposes, she was basically a zombie; the living dead.
Jungkook hated this. He, and the others, hated seeing her live like this. They had thought it was over, that she was over what had happened. They should've known it was foolish. PTSD is long-lasting, and their idealist natures were just living in a state of ignorance while she was probably whittling away on the inside.
Cursing at himself for waking up his hyungs even though he knew they needed the rest, he called Yoongi, who, despite his initial annoyance at being woken up, would know what to do and would wake up the rest. Yoongi always knew how to help.
"What?" Came the groggy voice at the other end of the line.
"I just...I don't know what to do, hyung. Earlier, I went to check on Na, and I saw she wasn't there. I freaked and drove over to the studios, and now she's like...unresponsive. I mean, she's awake, but she isn't registering anything I'm saying...what do I do?"
Now sounding much more awake, Yoongi replied, "have her sit down somewhere. Watch her closely. Just...don't move. We'll be right there in a few." Then he hung up.
True to his words, the rest of the members did arrive in a few minutes, probably breaking a few speeding laws on the way.
A loud pattering of footsteps echoed through the empty halls, alerting Jungkook to the presence of his older members.
"Thank God," he breathed out, looking at Nana concernedly. She was still gazing into the distance, barely blinking.
"Kook!" Yoongi shouted out, immediately heading towards the sitting girl to make sure she was safe. After he was satisfied with her physical state, he began to review her mental state, "has she said anything?"
"No, she wouldn't even move without me directing her by the shoulders."
"I hate to say it...but I think this is a much bigger issue than we can handle," Namjoon, ever the voice of reason, suggested. "I would call my therapist, but I'm pretty sure they're asleep."
"Why don't we just head home for now, and we'll figure it out in the morning. I think, by now, everyone is asleep," Jin offered. They all agreed, and, after Jungkook hoisted Nana onto his back, they set off.
~~
When morning hit, Nana had gotten a shocking total of thirty minutes of sleep, while the others had taken turns staying up with her. Not that it registered with her, who was so far gone she wouldn't have noticed if the sky was falling. They liked to think that it helped reassure her that they were there, though.
"Ok, I talked to Bang PD, and he did some research and found this sleep therapist that might be able to help. She also specializes in PTSD cases, which should be good for Nageum," Namjoon presented this information to the group. Nana was still, for the most part, unresponsive, but she seemed a little more aware than last night. "The plan is for her to get here later today...actually in about an hour."
"Well," Jin stood with a sigh, "until then, let's eat. Hobi, Tae, come help me in the kitchen. I'm thinking..." He began to rattle off dishes as he walked away with the two in tow.
Jimin turned to the others (sans Nana, who was obviously not paying attention), "...I'm scared, guys. I'm scared about what is going to happen with Na, and with us. I mean, we can't ignore the implications of this."
"And what are you trying to say, Jimin? That she's to blame for what's happening?" Jungkook defended fiercely.
Before Jimin could retort, Yoongi intervened, "Jungkook, calm down. You know that's not what he meant. Jimin, these are very valid concerns, but maybe we should wait until after Nana gets back to the right headspace, so we can discuss as a group. Don't worry too much about this kinda stuff, Bang PD-nim is in charge, so he can worry about it himself."
Joon continued when Yoongi stopped, "look, we're all scared. But we're going to get through this as a team, and no matter what happens, just know that we always have each other, ok?" The two young ones nodded (god knows they needed as much comfort as they could get).
Suddenly, Jimin got up and left without a word. Nana, obviously, didn't react, or at least not noticeably, but the other three were at a loss. Namjoon just sighed and put his head in his hands. It wasn't easy being leader.
Before Yoongi even had a chance to comfort the young rapper, Jimin returned, clutching a banana plushie with a cute smile and "peel" that could be fastened at the top to hide its face. He dropped to his knees in front of Nana, careful not to get too close, and tucked it into her arms.
"A banana for Nana," he whispered, giggling to himself briefly. "When it gets too difficult, think of me, ok? Think of us."
And he could've sworn he saw her eyes focus a little bit more, and the corners of her lips turn upwards.
